Ticket Auctions. What to you think?
I've had this idea for since I was in the dot com world in the late 90's. Basically it goes like this:

Popular bands/sporting events/plays/etc. map the venues they play in by two seat combinations. Then instead of selling seats, they auction off seats a la EBAY.

So you want to see U2. You go to ticketmaster and check out 2 seats, front row center and see what they are selling for. $1600 each. You, being Bill Gates, bid $5000 each for them.

So, you want to see U2. You go to ticketmaster and check out 2 seats, nosebleed, 4th from last row and see what they are selling for. $14 each. You, being me, you bid $16 for each for them.

Now, the band gets all the money (less cut for ticketmaster). Scalpers, they are out of business, because the bidding is being done online. Band makes more money, bad seats pay less, good seats pay more (lots more).

Downside. if you are a camp out, lifelong ticket purchaser, you are screwed. But you were screwed anyway.

Thoughts about this 100% un-distilled capitalistic ticket selling method?

2. You would run into legal issues in "no scalp" states such as MN.
