Gecko Eggs-Round 3
Edited on Wed Apr-26-06 07:31 AM by haruka3_2000
Stumpy laid her third pair of eggs this morning. She's busy recuperating. Unlike two nights ago, she doesn't look like she's gonna "pop" anymore. The "pink" back half of her belly is the eggs inside her.

1. And she reads DU even!
Will they hatch? Or do they just lay them sort of like cockatiels will? You've gotten me really interested in geckos. I think I know what my son is getting for his birthday.

3. The first pair won't but the rest shouldn't.
I had the humidity level too high in the incubator for the first pair, so they got moldy. The second pair is fertile. I expect this pair to be as well. The other female will probably lay a pair in a day or two.

I have a breeding trio. Let's just put it this way, none of them are sex-starved. Plus, they can lay 5-10 pairs of eggs from a single mating. In about 6 weeks, I should be getting some babies hatching.

That's an albino baby. It'll look like Stumpy as an adult.

That's what a "normal" baby looks like. It'll have no bands, only spots, as an adult.

I probably won't get albino babies though, because the father is a "high-yellow," which is basically a normal one with less spots.

5. I just read your subject line.
It looks like you missed the middle of the night "Official Lounge Lizard" thread.

2. I know with snake eggs it's very important that the eggs don't roll.

An air pocket forms at the top of the leather-like shell.

Good Luck! Baby lizards are so cute. Someday I'll go back to keeping geckos.
I would love to have a pair of Jackson's Old World Chameleons.

4. Yeah, I mark the top with a sharpie before they go into the incubator.
I'd like a Jackson's or a Panther chameleon.

6. Stumpy is a cutie.
My dad raises and breeds leopard geckos. He has tons of them. I used to have two named Beezus and Josephine. Congratulations on your eggs.
