Y'know, if we're gonna pay homage to an athlete
it oughta be Julio Franco.

The dude's 47 years old, in his 22nd major league season, and he stole a base against the Giants today.

Fucking incredible.

2. For baseball, yes...
There were rumors about Satchel Paige's age, but it's been firnly established that he was born in 1906, and was therefore about 47 when his big-league career ended, except for a couple of stunts...Jack Quinn and Hoyt Wilhelm were 49, but they were pitchers, and that's not quite the same thing...so yes: Julio is the man...:-)... But don't forget Gordie Howe, who played in the NHL when he was well past 50--that may be the most impressive "old guy" feat of all...
