1. HP sucks, and should be put to bed forever
I wish everyone would just stop buying their shite.

I've had to download printer drivers that were over 60 megs in size, ridiculous

10. We got a new Laserjet recently
I ignored the attached drivers CD and told the OS it was a Laserjet 6. It works wonders.

BOTH under Linux (Fedora 3) and under Windows (2000).

math co-processor, dos 3.1. everyone at work told me I was wasting my money on the extra ram. $1270.00 with a 12" black and white monitor. 200 bucks later for a 9 pin printer. My how times have changed.
today, dual core processor, video card, sound card, 2 gig ram, 160 gig HD with 17" flat panel monitor. $1400.00

12. I guess it's OpenOffice. But even so, it's gentler than any...
...big Windows software. Opens pretty fast (2.0) compared to the previous version (1.0).

GIMP is just as heavy, but also bearable.

I guess I'd be a lot more annoyed if I had 128 MB of memory instead of 256 MB.

13. Uninstall everything HP
Go to Add remove programs and uninstall anything labeled HP. Then go to HP's website and find the BASIC driver for your printer and download and install that. HP printers come with tons of bloatware that you never ever use and bog your system down. It seems required at install but it is so not. All you need is the driver and you'll be fine.

I run a network for a living and I've had to find workarounds for this very thing.

Peace.

17. Usually the web browser...
but only because I have a tendency to open links in new tabs or windows and go back and forth betwen them, so I generally have anywhere between 10-20 Mozilla windows or tabs open at any one time (I have 10 open right now, and Task Manager tells me that my memory usage for Mozilla is 90MB out of 768MB available physical memory).

18. Not counting applications: Adobe Acrobat.
I have several applications that can consume gigs of ram, but Acrobat is the only TSR that I have that constantly wastes RAM. 43 megs of it as I write this.
