Deaf Woman Arrested After Crashing Into Two Homes
<snip>

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A driver lost control of her car overnight and crashed into one home and then she backed right into another. The crash happened just before 1:00am Thursday off of Ashley Lane, near the 417 and Valencia College Lane in Orange County.

The driver was on Chickasaw Trail heading toward Valencia College Lane when the car veered off the road, through a wooden fence and into a backyard.

The driver slammed her silver Mitsubishi into one house, leaving a huge hole in the wall. When she tried to back up, she then drove through a sliding glass-door of another house.

No one sleeping inside the properties was hurt as a result of the crash.

When the Florida Highway Patrol arrived, troopers were unable to communicate with the driver because she's deaf.

In fact, troopers had to wait for an Orange County firefighter, who's capable of signing, to arrive and find out why it happened.

The woman was taken into custody and is facing DUI charges.

The American Red Cross was on the scene taking statements from the families affected. They'll be given food and hotel vouchers for at least a day.
