Johnny Depp May Star In Michael Hutchence Film

Ben Gilbert - LAUNCH U.K. & Ireland

Johnny Depp is being lined up to play Michael Hutchence in a movie biopic about the INXS star, it has been claimed.

Depp is among the names apparently being considered for the lead role in the film, which is being put together by Hutchence's brother, Rhett.

Although plans to make the movie are understood to have been met with some opposition from the family of the star, who committed suicide in 1997, Rhett Hutchence is said to be heavily involved. He is working alongside British filmmaker and former INXS promo video director Nick Egan on the project.

According to reports in the U.K. press today, Siena Miller, Eric Bana, Naomi Watts, and Rachel Griffiths are being considered for the roles of Paula Yates and Bob Geldof.

2. Two things that I see...
1). There was a degree of the Jim Morrison thing. I don't know how consciously Hutchence tried to stand in those shoes, but he certainly copied a lot of the moves. I personally couldn't stand the music INXS.

2). He killed himself, and that makes for a great movie. I say that sarcastically, but people love dirt. They love the VH1 Behind The Music stuff where a rock star goes from sitting on top of the world to lying six feet under, and that's what this story has to offer.

I just see the whole thing as a B-A-D idea.
