Wow, am I old fashioned!
I just read this thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x5085476

Young as I am, I have a really (you might call it) old fashioned attitude toward love and sex; that is...I could never imagine myself having strictly casual sex. I guess it's because I get attached easily.

But, dude...that's still crazy to think about...I must be really out of touch!

1. There's nothing casual about it
when you do it as infrequently as I do

2. Maybe we're just young and idealistic?

I thought the same thing when reading that thread.

3. Perhaps...
I, for one, would rather keep it this way, though.

5. I can think of a couple of reasons
if you're single and getting older (40+), the opportunities are more limited than when you were younger. :( (well, in my experience)

that there is a spectrum...for example, I don't have to love someone, but I sure as hell won't sleep with anyone I don't know, just met or haven't known for awhile...there will be others who are more casual, and many aren't.

Believe me, I started out like you!

8. Boils down to
(if you're single) having NO sex, because you don't love someone; or dating/having a relationship with someone you don't love, but fancy, care about, etc, and having sex.

(and, some others can be even more casual)

9. Hmm...
 I shall ponder this in the morning. Now, bed time. 'Course, the GF is a good hundred miles away, so I might end up pondering it tonight anyway. :(

Good night! :hi:

11. That's the truth...
Spot on! I think for me as I get up there in years (uh, just 35) I have a different view of what intimacy can be ... it can be valuable and right without a long term commitment that being "in love" implies -- that is, if you're honest with yourself and the other person.

But at one time I was so like you, Zombie :) It's not a bad way to approach "relationships," in my opinion. I say, hang on to it while you can.
