Election Year Controversy Looms Between State and Metamora

Can a four-legged horse employed by the state of Indiana hold the office of Mayor in the town where the horse is employed? Some think not, others don't mind, in the honorary Mayor fundraising program in a small tourist town in southeast Indiana.

Metamora, IN, April 28, 2006 --(PR.COM)-- In the first-ever election for honorary Mayor in this small historic town in Southeast Indiana, candidates must meet only two requirements—they must be breathing, and they must have no more than four legs. Jerry, the Belgian draft horse that pulls the state-owned canal boat down the state-owned canal for tourist rides, meets those two requirements. But some think that it would be a conflict of interest for a state employee to hold the only public office in the town. So the question facing the State of Indiana today is whether or not a draft horse is truly a state employee.

2. funny (sorta) story per Mitch

first - big deal made about Mitch not moving into the Gov.s mansion - seems wife likes the big estate in the burbs.

Now each year the hospital that does much of the health services for the poor holds a 'decorator's' fundraiser. A house in Indy's version of the Magnificient Mile - gets selected as do a number of high profile designers - each designer gets a room to do up however they see fit - then there is a big fundraising openhouse and todo. This year, since the gov.s mansion is vacant - it was selected.

Now - one of the designers used wall paper in the bathroom which had a jungle motiff that was not to the liking of the Daniels folks... it had monkeys on it (perhaps a swipe at Mitch's benefactor?)... raised a stink - and in the end the fundraiser was moved to the former home of Steve Hilbert (they guy who drove Conseco into the ground - now facing a world of legal and financial troubles).

Not to be outdone - the gov decides to hold their own 'decorator' fundraiser - redoing the govs mansion... again... sending the money to a different charity - and hold it the same night as the other one (can we say PETTY - can we say working to depress the $ raised for the hospital?). Can we say "little man syndrome?" (aka Napolean syndrome)
