Poll question: South Park Poll |
|
My vote is with choice number 3. While I never felt that I was entirely in tune with the SP creators as far as politics & what not (or lack thereof), I did feel the show was wickedly funny and entertaining before, but that with the odd exception, it really isn't very funny or entertaining anymore.
I do feel that the SP creators have, or had, real talent. The musical numbers in the feature movie are GREAT, hilarious and actually good songs, and good parodies, at the same time. Just because I don't agree with someone or their politics doesn't mean that I deny their talent. I don't agree with Bruce Willis' alignment with the Republicans but I like most of his films. Even Rush Limbaugh, who I totally disagree with on just about everything, had a real talent for radio, that's how he got to where he is in the radio world.

2. Other: Still great but apparently I'm just too stupid to appreciate the... |

greater depth of subtlety of the satire this season. Or so some of us have been told.

3. I don't know that "subtle" and South Park belong in the same sentence. |

4. Every TV show eventually runs out of steam. |

I can't watch The Simpsons, it's not funny or topical, just annoying. Ditto for South Park (Family Guy was never funny).

I've enjoyed episodes here and there but I've never been a fan of the show. However every now and then I'll found myself amused by an episode.
Edit: It use to amuse me when the show first came on the air cause the mall I would frequent when visiting the grand parents was called South Park. Yah I know . . cheap amusement

6. Agree with you, Mayberry |

I was a big fan during the first four seasons, then it kinda got old. I watched off and on after that, and from what I've seen this season, Matt & Trey have lost it completely. It's time to put that show to rest.

It's the show's utter irreverence that makes it funny, especially when the characters spouting the irreverence are children. The show remains as irreverent as ever, but I am less and less surprised by the irreverence I see in the show, and, therefore, it seems less funny. It's still valuable for the way it challenges social conventions, even if it's not as funny.
imho

8. They are out of ideas and need to take a sabattical |

There has not been one funny episode this season. Last season even had a few good ones, not this year.
