PADRES WIN!! Finally! Beat Dodgers 6-5 after being down 5-0 bottom of 9th. |
|
LA's bullpen walked in two runs in the 9th, allowing the Pads to tie it up. Mark Bellhorn hit a double with 2 on in the 10th and the punchless Padres avoid another sweep!
Its about fucking time!

2. They've been having problems getting guys on base. (Padres). |
|
Let alone scoring runs. They scored only 4 runs in 4 games. The other night they lost 2-0. Only TWO HITS for the Pads!

to be wearing a Las Vegas uniform any day now. :grr:
I expected him to fuck up, but Baez too? That was a stunner.

Total meltdown. The Padres will lose 100 games unless they HIT! They got Vinny Castilla and Mike Piazza to jack the ball out of the yard and they aint doing it. Piazza is below the Mendoza line and Castilla isnt putting the ball in play with baserunners. Giles averaged 35 HRs and 110 RBIs a year in Pittsburgh. He comes here and hits 16 HRs and 85 RBIs. Not too shabby but he was brought here to hit it over the damn wall. In the offseason they let X.Nady and Ramon Hernandez go to make room for Piazza and Castilla. Both of the guys they let go are tearing it up now. Kevin Towers is the most overrated GM in baseball.

6. I knew all X Nady needed was playing time |
|
He's a local guy. I did a story on him when he was in high school and hit something like .575. I happened to pick a day when he drove in nine runs with two homers (one a slam) and a double and his school won a tournament named for their coach.
If San Diego hadn't platooned him... well, you can speculate like Towers probably is.

7. I cant understand why they platooned him. |
|
They kept a hobbled and slow-footed Ryan Klesko in the lineup at first and in LF. Two positions X would have handled well. Klesko is a liability with the glove. Almost as bad a Manny Ramirez in LF. Towers has to go!

When you've got a high-salaried player with a nagging injury — one that doesn't threaten his career and thus the investment — a lotta times it's "As long as we're paying him $9 million, he's gonna play."
Another result of trying to buy a winner instead of grow one.
