2. Are you sure it's not Led Zepplin?
Jesus Christ, I had to take the classic rock station off my presets, because it seemed like everytime I checked it was car commercials or Zepplin.

6. i remember when Elvis Costello played in Seattle
for the first time in like 15 years (no kidding). The tickets went on sale the same day as a Pink Floyd concert, and I had to practically fight off crazed floyd fans to get to the counter - I must have said No I am not here for floyd I am here for Elvis Costello about a thousand times to the same amazed stare as if it was beyond comprehension that another band in existed anywhere in the universe that was worth standing in line for hours to see. Floyd fans are alot like Grateful Dead fans in that way.

9. I never understood the attraction
They sound like they made all their songs when they were high on heroin to me. But I better stop bashing the Floyd before I get bashed back. ;)

33. Toys in the Attic came out 31 years ago, yeah
they're just still making successful, relatively popular music every album they continue to put out so their catelogue spans the classic and non-classic rock arbitrary line.

34. Yeah, but back then, a lot of us didn't consider them "classic"....
...because we still had classic groups to listen to.

35. back when?
There's no question about the fact that Aerosmith's first several albums are classic rock.

I really don't think a "classic rock" genre existed in any noticable form in radio or record retail in the mid 1970's.

36. Aerosmith was not considered a "classic" group from people who...
...grew up on the Who, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Santana, Jethro Tull, and myriad of others who were still producing quality music in the mid-70's. In those days, Aerosmith was not in their league. They were not a Super Group. They were one of many mid-level groups. They've simply outlasted the other mid-level groups from that era, IMHO....

27. Is there any Classic Rock station that doesn't play Boston?
I travel to Wisconsin and western Iowa as well as Missouri from time to time and I had the same damn song from Boston in three different markets! And to think I actually liked this outfit once. Boy, those must have been better drugs than I thought.

22. The last town I lived in, it was definitely Led Zep
They got played about twice an hour. As far as Stairway, a DJ friend of mine told me there was an unwritten rule not to play it. If you did, you weren't cool. Now, that once overplayed song is really underplayed. I love The Eagles no matter how much I hear them. I have really stopped listening to much music since AAR. However, I have started collecting LP's of classic rock to play on my vintage stereo in my retro room.

I think Led Zeppelin are the kings of overplayed. Good band, but they've been burnt to a crisp by classic rock radio.
