Happy May Day DU !

This year is going to be the gringo may day. Last year I posted a thread requesting that DU'ers tell me what May Day meant to them. I was born on the first of May, at 5:15 in the morning. I have always celebrated May Day. How about you? Do you celebrate May Day at all? What does May Day mean to you?

I've never done much with May Day. There was a little festival of sorts in the town where I went to high school, but I haven't been in years.

I've never seen a May Day festival. I was down in NYC over the weekend, and I came across a bunch of middle school tourist (perhaps they were french canadian :shrug: ). They were waiting for a bus, I think. There were about 30 kids. Anyway, some of the girls would take turns dancing around a street sign. They were singin fa la laaa. la la laaa. la la laaa. It was very interesting.

Little more than that. Oh, once my brother and I drove off and smoked pot in the car park ALL DAY on May Day because nobody was about - everybody was at the may market.

You would put little baskets with flowers on front door step of people you like. You rang the doorbell and ran away. I don't know if this was a local thing or what.
