Hey Packer Backers!
How did you feel about taking AJ Hawk as your top draft pick? You can tell by my avatar how I feel about the kid, but how do you feel?

1. He said on the news last night
that he wears his hair long "in memory of Pat Tillman". :wtf:

So I have no idea how to feel about that.

3. Well, they're what I've got now and I hope they do well
but I wouldn't say I'm a *fan*. I'm a Browns fan. Which is about as useful as rooting for Wile. E. Coyote. :eyes:

8. Cool!
The way they were talking right after the injury happened was that Carson might be finished. I'm happy he's going to be able to play again.

9. I remember the Bengals of the 70's and 80's growing up in Ohio.
Ken Anderson, Boomer Esiason, and Pete Johnson.

Can't believe the horrible management of the bengals (or as some called them "the bungles") through the 90's in early 00's.

21. I think Ken Anderson may have been better.
He was extremely precise and was one of those who could thread the needle.

18. actually he's a very nice guy
Edited on Mon May-01-06 03:18 PM by realisticphish
I've met him personally. And I see no problem whatsoever with honoring Pat Tillman. Conservative? Yes. So what?

Agreed, his supporting the Iraq war is misguided, but he's just a kid from a very conservative part of Ohio.

24. i just think
that's a false dichotomy. You're either against the war, or you go fight it. Those are NOT the only two positions. If everyone who ever supported a war fought it, than America would have fielded about 100 million troops during WWII. But, that's beside the point.

He supports the war. Does he want to fight it? and possibly die? hell no. Neither would I (if i supported the war). I see a huge difference between someone making policy deliberately avoiding service (i.e., Shrub et al), and someone not choosing to serve. I've always had a problem with condemning war supporters for not joining. That, to me, is similar to "love it or leave it." "Fight in it or be against it." That kind of argument is a form of ad hominem, IMHO. You're attacking the person, not the idea. Attacking the person changes nothing. Attack the idea, and we may get somewhere.

Look, I don't support the war. I think people who do are misguided at best. But demonizing a young kid for what he thinks is just too much.

17. I'm twice as happy
Now my badgers dont have to face him as a buckeye

We needed an impact player who could walk-in and start. Now with Barnett and Diggs and Hodge we have a great, young linebacker core. Our defense was pretty good last year

It was almost worth going 4-12 to get the high pick and the easier schedule

23. Trouble is that the Packers are still lacking
On the offensive line, running game, and after yesterday's trade, receiving. Sorry, but I think that the Packers will be doing astonishingly well to make the wild card spot:shrug:

They're doing a good job in starting to rebuild, but they've still got 2-3 years before they're a powerhouse again, and that's if the QB transition goes well after Favre retires.
