I'm gung-ho and raring to go--time to finish college
I think I've found a program to get me certified and all, the tough part is that about 1/3 of the courses are not offered evenings or summers, so I imagine at some point I'll have to cut my full-time job here to part-time (to keep my benefits) and then find a part-time job that pays well (I was thinking bartending) that will allow me some flexibility for school.

I'm getting my past transcripts together so that I can meet w/ some admissions advisers at different schools--find out what will transfer, what won't, what degree programs will help me achieve my professional goals, etc...

I'm nervous, but I know I can do this. It's going to take a lot of work, but I'm a hard-worker, so I think I'll be ok.

It's time.

Wish me luck. This is a journey that I've wanted to take for a long time now, and never felt ready. Now that my son's of age, it's time to take care of ME!

1. i wish you great luck Millie!
Maybe you can get one of those swell campus jobs.

I worked the midnight shift full-time at Central Supply in the University hospital and got some serious studying in too.

4. You'll be a.....CAMPUS LADY !!
Edited on Mon May-01-06 04:00 PM by Sequoia

In this uproarious new improvisational comedy from Oxygen and executive producer Cheryl Hines, two unhappy housewives ditch suburbia to enroll in college. As freshmen, they deal with co-ed dorms, communal bathrooms, sorority rushing and more!

6. I went back to finish my degree at age 55
It can be done! It took me 2 years to finish up and I wish I had done it sooner. I had a ball! I did an Accelerated Degree program. The academic year was divided into modular units of 8 weeks each with 3 credits to each course. It was easy to take 5 or 6 college courses a year while working full time. Plus, I figured I could take anything for 2 months, even the hated math (I got an A!).

Then I took a year off and went back to do grad work. Got my master's 3 years ago this spring. Loved that, too!
