Favorite Canadian? (pop culture edition)
Edited on Mon May-01-06 02:13 PM by undisclosedlocation
Eventually this will be a poll, but there are just too fucking many of them. Here's a few, in alphabetical order, far as I can tell:

Dan Aykroyd
Bryan Adams
Pamela Anderson
BTO
The Band except for Levon
Barenaked Ladies
Raymond Burr
John Candy
Jim Carrey
Leonard Cohen
David Cronenberg
Celine Dion (hey, somebody must like her)
James Doohan
Michael J. Fox
the late great John Kenneth Galbraith
William Gibson
Lorne Greene
Wayne Gretzky
The Guess Who
Phil Hartman
Peter Jennings
Diana Krall
k.d. lang
Avril Lavigne
Gordon Lightfoot
Guy Lombardo
Robert MacNeil
Loreena McKennitt
Sarah McLachlan
Mike Myers
Lorne Michaels
Joni Mitchell
Rick Moranis
Alanis Morissette
Steve Nash
Matthew Perry
Oscar Peterson
Keanu Reeves
Rush
Paul Shaffer
William Shatner
Donald Sutherland
Alex Trebek
Neil Young

For more, you can go to http://probability.ca/jeff/canadians.html and get the ones I was too snooty to cut and paste, such as Monty Hall, Howie Mandel or James Cameron.

27. Uh-huh. Others on the list might be technically better...
...at one thing or another, but Shatner has become something else altogether--an elemental force of hamminess, an ego matched only by its self-deprecating humor.

No one gets hit by a pain ray like Shatner.

4. Out of that list...k.d. lang is my favorite.
Love k.d. :-)

You could also add Eric McCormack to that list. If he was anyone's favorite, that is. He is Canadian.

9. from that list, in no particular order,
I'll say the late great John Kenneth Galbraith, k.d. lang, Sarah McLachlan, (k.d. and Sarah have two of the loveliest voices I've ever heard) William Shatner, Neil Young for his current album, Leonard Cohen, Donald Sutherland, Dan Ackroyd and William Shatner.

If Sandra Oh is Canadian, she's cool, too.

13. I dunno, I thought Donald had gone Hollywood by the time Kiefer was born
so was figuring the latter probably grew up in California. If I'm mistaken, I'll be happy to add Kiefer to the someday-poll.

17. Keifer lived with his mum
after Donald and Shirley divorced. I believe in Toronto. His grandfather, Tommy Douglas, was the father of our universal health care plan. He (Tommy) was recently voted the Greatest Canadian (on a CBC show).

How quickly they forget! She's had quite a career in theater, film, and television.

And then there's Walter Pidgeon. What would Greer Garson have done without Walter Pidgeon?

And don't forget the guys of the Band (well, except for Levon Helm, of course; he's from this side of the border) and Blue Rodeo. :woohoo:
