4. I'll bet 3/4 of the people who watch her show
are the ones who have a masochistic curiosity to see how she will screw up food that particular week.

5. WAY worse than Rachael Ray
At laast Rachael (Gods help me) can cook a little, and has a personality... even if it is often an annoyng as hell personality.

Sandra Lee? Bogus cooking credentials, can't even cook (even my SO can throw stuff from boxes together), and is mnarried toia Freeper...

Give me Alton, Giada, or even Paula Dean any day... they can cook!

6. she is not married to a freeper
she may have republican helmet hair, but she is married to (but getting a divorce from) Bruce Karatz, CEO of KB Homes, who is a Democrat.

how do i know this? as i have posted before, she came on to me at the gay pride parade in west hollywood in 2004. i love to tell that story. she was a little tipsy. :-)

never have i seen a woman make more concoctions from alcohol and cheez whiz.

9. Hmmm... I swear I read she was married to a GOP writer....
Yet another "straight" woman who likes to get freaky when she drinks... I made out with a lot of them in college!

Yeah... her "cooking" is scary...

12. no, she is actually a big gay rights supporter and
she and her soon-to-be-ex husband hosted fundraisers for Clinton and Gore (and probably Kerry) at their Bel Air house.

She can't cook worth a damn but she's got her politics right. :-)

14. she actually looked way better in person
i have a picture a friend took, but no scanner. she was wearing jeans and a white tank top and of course she had a drink in her hand the whole time. she seems quite cool, actually, but how she got that show - i have no idea. karatz probably made a huge donation to the Food Network to give his wife a show. some of that shit she comes up with - you KNOW she smokes pot. :-)

what happened was - she was walking by and as she walked her head turned and she never took her eyes off me and I had no idea who she was, but she looked pretty fine so i mouthed "come back here" and she mouthed, "no, you come here" and her gay male friends were pulling her while she was trying to come back to me. oh well. my digestive system is the better for it.

...then someone told me who she was and i watched her show...ugh.

What a way to ruin a fantasy! haha. I always thought she would look scary because of the high use of soft focus. I guess I was wrong.

8. I totally agree
I hate Rachael Ray but her food comes out decently most of the time. Sandra Lee makes the most vomit inducing crap EVER. And she's an alcoholic to boot.

13. My sister
has made many, many recipes from Rachel's cook books and every one is awesome!

That doesn't say anything about how she really cooks, I don't know how she really cooks and neither do most people here but her recipes are easy to follow and time efficient as well as easy on the wallet.

Rachel rocks! :bounce:

16. Ever read the reviews of her recipes on the FoodNetwork site?
Brutal.
I had her on this weekend and she actually said that chicken tenders were better than pieces of cut up chicken breast because they were more.....tender. I laughed out loud at her.

She loves her booze...so I give her snaps for that.

There's this one person who makes up the most absurd anecdotes surrounding her recipes. It's pretty genius.

18. Her favorite phrase is, "and now I want you to . . ."
Everything she makes is "cute", "precious" and "adorable." (according to her!) And I don't believe there is such a word as tablescape. You're right; she's the worst!

20. She's like a substitute Home Ec Teacher...
No offense to qualified substitute Home Ec teachers intended!

This woman has suddenly started showing up on Food Network's
specials, alongside Alton, Bobby, Paula, and Emeril.

Gag me.

If I see one more "Fun with packaged cookie dough" segment, I'll
start screaming.

She's the AVON Lady of cooks. (No offense to successful Avon
representatives.)

She's had more face work than Michael Jackson.

She's the room mother who thinks her cupcakes are the best and who
can't figure out why the other mothers don't bow down to her.

GGGRRR

If her show is on, I either change the channel or press the mute button.

25. Am I right in guessing that the show is a cooking programme
based around using various boxes and packets?

How long before there's a "cooking show" which shows one inventive ways to order a pizza delivery?

Have you ever noticed that the outfit she is wearing and the set always match AND tie into the cooking theme of the day. It's so freakish, I can't watch.:scared:

29. Here's a sample recipe from Shamdra:
1 package pre-cooked sausage patties
1 (8-ounce) can crescent shaped rolls
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 dash hot sauce
Lemon juice
4 slices American cheese

.................................

What's the butter for? Why..to brush on top of the crescent rolls before they bake of course!

And who in their right mind would put mayonnaise on a breakfast croissandwich?

THIS is what passes for a recipe on Sasndra Lee's show.

31. Pumpkin-cheesecake Petits Fours a la SemiHo:
1. Take a sugar cookie mix, add a bunch of crap to it, and bake shells.
2. Buy a ready-made pumpkin pie AND a ready-made cheesecake...scoop out the innards, discard the shells...put them in separate bowls, add some cream to each and beat until fluffy.
3. Fill THREE pastry bags (or Ziplocks with tips) -- one with pumpkin, one with cheesecake, one half and half. Pipe into the shells.
4. Drizzle with chocolate frosting. Top with whipped cream or an espresso bean or something or other.

So...she wants you to buy a perfectly good pumpkin pie and a perfectly good cheesecake, which aren't cheap, and futz around with sugar-cookie dough and icing-in-a-bag. It's like she's going out of her way to use store-made ingredients without regard to their expense and waste or the fact it would actually be quicker, cheaper and taste better to get a can of pumpkin and a block of cream cheese and make the fillings quickly that way. Packaged tartlet shells would save a lot of time and aggravation, as well, which is the whole point.

Am I missing something?

Why not just eat the pie and the cheesecake as they are? Why go through all that extra crap?

33. It's hard to make a whole episode out of "Buy this and eat it"
The whole appeal of this woman's so-called cuisine is that everyone's afraid to do anything anymore.

So now comes this Sandra Lee fool, who's gotten rich on the concept of taking boxed food, dumping a lot of crap in it, then getting completely shitfaced before you eat so you don't notice that your meal still tastes like the box it came in.

Yes, you can buy a block of cream cheese and a can of pumpkin and, without a lot of effort or a lot of time, make the same dessert Sandra dropped $35 on for about five dollars, and it wouldn't taste like it was pieced together the way Sandra's does. "But I'd have to....DO things!"
