Speaking of crying while watching tv...
Edited on Tue May-02-06 12:16 PM by grace0418
I completely lost it last night while watching Six Feet Under. Okay, so since we don't have HBO we are renting the dvds. We have only the series finale left to watch, which should be coming from Netflix tomorrow (fingers crossed). I actually know what happens in the series finale and am very much looking forward to having this AMAZING series wrapped up in such a satisfying way.

**SPOILER ALERT**

***SPOILER JUST AHEAD***

I also knew that Nate died, so the episode where he actually passes away wasn't as shocking for me as it may have been for others. However the next episode with the funeral tore my heart completely from my chest. I was actually sobbing, I kid you not. I felt like I was there at the funeral and it was so real to me. The pain Ruth was feeling over losing her son, the anger and grief and fear Brenda was experiencing, the guilt and shame of Maggie, the terror David was feeling, Claire sense of of utter abandonment-- it was so heartbreaking and raw and real. I have never experienced anything like that from a television show. I am still reeling from it.

All I can say is BRAVO. That show is a wonderful example of how art can actually change you as a person. I feel like my life is different now, and in way I can't think of a better compliment for a work of art. It is definitely my favorite show of all time.

1. My face is blotchy and my eyes are swelling from the ER viewing.
I think, sometimes, there are actors who just come along and hit the reality of loss...and blow you away.

3. I remember that episode, it was heartbreaking.
ER I think ran it's course awhile back, but that episode was awesome. I cried too.

I know the feeling you're describing. I woke up today feeling like I'd been on an all-night crying jag. All blotchy and puffy.

2. I miss the show terribly...
It wasn't a typical Ward and June Cleaver show. HBO has come out with some wonderful series. Another personal favorite is Deadwood.

6. I will too.
I'm glad the finale is going to wrap everything up because otherwise I'd always wonder "I wonder what Claire ended up doing?" or "How did things work out with David, Keith and the boys?" etc.

7. It was interesting how they showed the deaths of the characters.
Ruth in a hospital, Rico drops dead by an elevator, Keith gets shot in a robbery.
Claire lived to be 103.

9. Well I haven't watched the finale yet but luckily
I already know generally what happens. Otherwise I'd be really mad at you right now. :)

4. Did you see the "making of" special on HBO?
Lauren Ambrose (Claire) was amazed at Frances Conroy (Ruth), doing several takes of the funeral scene, wailing like that every time. Damn that show has some good actors. I miss it too.

5. No! I would love to see that! I wonder if I can find it anywhere.
Netflix doesn't usually send the "extras" unless they're on the disk with the show itself.

8. Plus I don't think it's been re-run
HBO2 was showing the episodes in order, but they didn't show the special, when they got around to showing the finale :(

Do you have HBO? If so, I can let you know if it comes up on the schedule.

10. No, I don't have HBO.
That's why I rented the dvds. But thanks anyway. Maybe I'll look around on Youtube or something.

11. I was afraid of that...
I looked it up, it's called "Six Feet Under: In Memoriam"

Good luck! :hi:

12. Thanks for looking that up!
I will see if I can find it somewhere. I imagine they're going to come out with some special edition box set of all the seasons that will probably have that on there.

14. Watched the finale last night.
I already knew what I was going to see but really enjoyed it anyway. I wasn't as emotional as I was watching Nate's funeral but I'm still just so sad it's over. :(

15. I watched it two nights ago.
I don't cry a lot at movies (I haven't since I watched The Constant Gardener). Even my SO (who is huge movie buff/writer, but never watched the show prior to a few with me recently) said, "That was amazingly written."

My favorite show of all time too. It's the best show ever on IMHO.
