Does the color of your suit really make a difference?
I have one suit and it is black, it is fairly new - I got it at Ann Taylor so it is not a cheapo suit. But I have an interview and have recently read that I should wear a blue or gray suit because a black suit is too conservative. Normally I wouldn't care about something as stupid as the color of my suit but I need to give the best impression I can, I need to get a job.

The other thing is that this is a software company and I would bet more than 1/2 the people are younger than me, so i REALLY don't want to come across as too conservative and unable to fit in.

Do you think the color of my suit really matters?

By the way, I dress simply and don't accessorize (except for earrings, rings and a bracelet) so a scarf is not an option.

1. I think you're fine. I've interviewed people in black suits before.
As long as you're not wearing blaze orange or something, I wouldn't worry about it.

3. My second option was my lime green blazer with black pants,
I guess I won't go with that.:)

8. That wouldn't be bad for a second interview IF you get to your first
interview and see what the other people there are wearing. If it's a conservative environment, then stick to dark/neutral colors. If it's more casual, green should be OK.

2. I think a black suit is fine - it's a good basic.
You can perk it up by wearing a blouse in a color other than white.

4. That was my thinking but I'm getting a little paranoid because
there are so many new expectations (thank you notes after interviews?) that I don't want to be totally clueless about what I wear.

5. I just read somewhere (Real Simple I think) that a black suit with a
punchy blouse makes a real statement. Maybe black with an emerald green or electric blue shell?

7. That's a good idea. I think I'll go shopping. Ann Taylor is
having another 50% off sale!

6. Black is always a good choice
Just wear a nice shirt underneath in a seasonal color so it doesn't look severe.
