38. What an angel.
Is that an eastern cottontail? Wild? How did s/he end up in your hand? (That's not usually a good sign. :( )

6. More fluffy bunnies!
Edited on Tue May-02-06 05:04 PM by haruka3_2000

Those are my fluffy bunnies. The white with silver one is Elfie (named by my stepbrother) and the brown one is Darwin (named by me). They're both the same age, but Darwin is a dwarf (who was the size of a hamster when I first got her).

On edit: It's not the best quality because I took it with my cell phone.

8. Here's my cat, Darwin (we call him Charlie)

Charles Darwin (we plucked him from the middle of a bridge during rush hour - he's definitely a survivor! And, your avatar reminded me we almost named him Raoul Duke, as it seemed nothing could kill him).

14. One of my pets is named Raoul Duke.
Edited on Tue May-02-06 05:32 PM by haruka3_2000
Raoul Duke, the bearded dragon, taking a bath.

And here's her sidekick (and brother), Dr. Gonzo. Yes, that is an Andy Warhol collage as a terrarium background.

Edited to say: I have an indestructible cat, too. She was the only surviving kitten in her litter (literally rescued from an alleyway in a blizzard). She also managed to survive two weeks lost in a blizzard. I thought she was a goner, but she came back fine, although 2 lbs. lighter. The vet said that wherever she was, she didn't eat the whole time and was probably just eating snow to get water. Her name's Midnight and she's the only cat I've seen who wears a leather spiked collar (it's fitting).

15. Thanks and they're super friendly too.
The love to just lay on my stomach and lick my hands. That is, when they're not running around, like hyperactive maniacs.

16. Hey!
Edited on Tue May-02-06 05:37 PM by Hell Hath No Fury
I haven't forgotten about you and your bunny -- my sister has been working like a demon lately and unable to even get in the computer.

Does your yard bun have a little white tail that looks like a powder puff? If so, what you have there is an Eastern cottontail. They are wild rabbits that are fairly common in certain parts of the country. I had one that was a rehab who lived in my backyard for several years here in SF -- his name was Blue and he was a trippy bunny! Since I had raised him from a tiny thing he was totally used to me and he would sit on my lap to eat greens out of my hand.

From the looks of it, he has lots of greens to eat in your yard! If you are thinking of letting him hang out for a long time, I would set up a feeding station for him so he doesn't eat the crap out of your yard (too much). Lots of kale, grasses, lettuce, greens, carrots, fruit like apple and berries, and get some hay for him -- you can find it bagged at pet stores. Also put out water for him -- I just use a large ceramic saucer that goes under pots -- keep it topped off, especially in hot weather. As for a house, I don't think you'll really need anything - he should be able to shelter himself just fine. If you are really worried, you can take half of a small animal carrier and set it upside down in your yard in a quiet, low activity area and he may set up shop in it. They also love to hang out in tube shapes -- like plumbing pipes that are big enough for him to fit in laid out on the ground. Nothing too long, just a foot or so. I can't see if there is anywhere for him to get out of the sun under, like a large bush. If not, then a pet carrier might be important to put out.

18. Hello!
Thank you for remembering! I've been putting out timothy hay and some greens but these other suggestions are perfect - I really appreciate it. Since it's warming up quite a bit here, I'll start to put out fresh water then. I don't know where he goes off to, but I found two places where he squeezes into and out of my yard under the fence. All the same though, I'll try out these shelter ideas as well.

Honestly, again, thank you for taking the time to post these. It's made me feel a lot better about being able to care for him. :hi:
