1. He's an incredible singer... but no great personality |
|
And, that is often what makes a singer -- you need to be a performer, you need alot of charisma. That's why my Growly Beardy Bear Bo almost won AI last year. Decent voice -- with some pitch and range problems -- but what a p I do think Elliott is probably the singer best singer ever on AI, and there is a market for him.

Funny thing about a female perception of looks. At first he seemed kinda fugly. Now not so much so.
I'd download his music any time.

3. I like his voice and he seems like a sweet guy. |
|
If he doesn't win, I still hope he has a nice career ahead of him.

11. I don't think he's ugly, just a bit rough around the edges |
|
Which isn't a bad thing! I just meant his charisma. He seems like a really, really nice guy.

7. The latter, TBH :) I'm sure he is wonderful. But I don't think I'll |

listen. I've managed to avoid everything AI-related over the years, (except for 3 or 4 posts on the subject) - why change now? :hi:

seriously, I know the guy is talented, but I just don't get him. I think he's quite blah- personality and voice both. I would never buy anything he put out, and I would probably change the station if it was on the radio, not sure why, but that's where I am at with Elliott.
now, Chris, on the other hand...that's a different story. He gives me chills every time he sings, or speaks. LOVE HIM. and it's not looks- it's more of a vibe thing, he resonates in my bones.

8. Taylor and Chris are kinda niche singers |
|
Talented in their own genre. I started a huge Taylor Hicks fan, but Elliott never hits a funky note. Perhaps this is an age thing and Elliott's style just appeals to me more. I just realized I am old. Sigh.

it's funny, but I think Elliott is a niche singer- said that last night to the dh after he sang. :-) Singing is so subjective, we all have our own ears and everything else music filters thru. tonight should be interesting...who do you thing is going? I say Paris.

20. now if people would only understand that politics are subjective too! |
|
Paris is going tonight, I'm reasonably certain.
I really don't like Katharine. Her mom is a vocal coach and her style is so deliberate. I'd like Elliott to win but would be thrilled if Taylor did.

13. I heard him on the radio yesterday in a store |
|
this is the second time I have heard him, just his voice, on the radio and he is incredible. I am no fan of that kind of music really but he does have some incredible pipes. Close your eyes and just listen-amazing.
He is from Richmond so all the top 40 stations are going nuts trying to get votes for him.

He's one of the few that I can only listen to a certain amount before I Tivo past him. Sure he doesn't go off key or anything, but his voice is just....I don't know. I'd say he has a good natural voice, but I don't like his song choices or the way he sings them. He's very blah. Boring.
Now while I wouldn't buy his album I probably wouldn't buy Katharine's either, but she has far more connection and personality. She has a great voice, while not technically as good as Elliot's, she makes up for it imho in other ways. Charisma is a huge part of having a stage presence. It's not so much about looks, though they certainly help, but about what you do up there. Janis Joplin for instance wasn't what you would call a looker but she was riveting.
Elliot is not long for that show. Paris is probably gone this week, then Elliot next. The final three, as many have been predicting for awhile now, will be Taylor, Chris, and Katharine. Then it'll be Katharine, and whichever guy does better on the final 3 night...Then Katharine.

He's an ok singer, but he's just totally boring. Every time he comes on the TV, I find my mind wandering. The guy has no personality or charisma. It is beyond me what the judges see in him.
Now Chris Daughtry on the other hand...I plan on buying his album when it comes out. I don't care whether he wins this stupid show or not. He just rocks. I love his voice, I like the type of music he does, and I'm sure enough that I will like whatever he records that I'm willing to bet $16 on him.
