5 years ago this week, I met a cool chick on the internet.

I was relatively new to Northeast Ohio, and didn't know anybody apart from those I worked with. Despite a deep-seeded hatred for chat rooms, I decided to log in some time on Yahoo chat. One day, I said my hellos to a chat room, and a poster named mojopomo greeted me by the wrong name. I used to use the handle "superjudge," and this asshat chatter called me "superfudge" instead. I shrugged it off. A couple minutes later, I asked if anyone in the room was from Ohio. I got a PM from this mojopomo person: "I'm from Ohio." I did a quick profile check- mojopomo was a female. Nice! She also didn't use LOL, a personal pet peeve of mine, and seemed pretty nice. We IM'ed each other throughout the evening. Her name was Cathy.

We spent the next couple days chatting online, until I got the guts to finally call her. I wouldn't say that there was anything dynamic about our phone conversations, but she was nice enough. A day later, she asked if I was doing anything over the weekend. I said no, and she then asked if I wanted to go to the drive-in with her. I'd be an idiot to pass this up. Our "date" was set for Cinco de Mayo.


When I got there, it was definitely like at first sight. We grilled burgers and chatted and laughed as if we knew each other for years. There were no uncomfortable pauses, no struggling for things to say. She was normal, sweet and very cute.

The movie sucked- it was "The Mummy Returns." It didn't matter, because we spent the whole time getting to know each other, laughing and telling stories.


That was five years ago. Two years later we married. I love you Cathyclysmic. Happy Meeting Anniversary!

Cleveland was a crappy place to live until you came along. I had moved to a small town outside of Cleveland from Columbus a couple years before. I have to say, I was not meeting very many fun people, so I decided even though it wasn't me to go to Yahoo Chat.

I couldn't come up with a user name I liked, so I used my pet fish's name Mojopomo (that's a whole other story how the fish ended up with that name). I wanted a unisex user id because the guys who p.m. you just to ask your bra size freak me out. :scared:

So,this Superfugde guy came along and asked was anyone from Ohio, I said me. No amazing conversation, but nice.

The job I had at the time, I worked alot of weekends. It was my birthday and had taken the weekend off to plan something fun. So, brain-storming with my roommate at the time, I decided just going on a date at the drive-in down the street would be fun. Since I lived so close to the drive-in be never went because of my crappy work schedule. The problem was who to go with. So, my roommate suggested that guy I talked to a couple days ago. He seems sane and my roommate promised to stick around until she can confirm he is not a serial killer.

So, I got online and P.M.ed him if he wanted to hang out, drive-in blah-blah.

And just like the Beast Man said, no awkward pauses, never ran out of stuff to talk about...I like to call it 'Like at first sight'.:blush:...mushy,I know.

After that, it moved pretty fast. I met his family and loved them. He met my family and they loved him.

So, Five years later, he still makes me smile everyday. From talking to other women about their husband's antics, I realized I am very lucky. The older ladies at work on the third floor make fun of me because they watch me kiss my husband good-bye every morning and they say we take too long.

Ok...so what I'm trying to say, BTBM, is thanks for making living in Cleveland tolerable.LOL!111!!

But, I would like to say that your story is a sweet one (I've heard it before when we got to meet you two IRL and it's still just as adorable). You make such a great couple and it is obvious that you love each other when anyone sees you together (kissing goodbye or otherwise). ;)

The weird thing is that the first time I met EP, we were the same exact way - there was "like" at first sight. There were no uncomfortable pauses in our conversation, no awkwardness at all. From our very first meeting, I immediately knew this: 1) he was a genuinely nice guy, 2) that I felt connected to him, as if we'd known each other for years, and 3) that I wanted to....oh wait, I don't want to get your thread locked. :evilgrin:
