NYC DUers...I need restaurant suggestions |
|
My mom is coming into town for my graduation next week and she wants to take me out to dinner in the city so I'm trying to find a good place to eat. It should be in the midtown area because her husband just had knee surgery so he can't do too much walking and should probably be kid friendly as well...I have two younger siblings that are probably going as well. I'm basically up for any kind of food just as long as it's good.
Any suggestions?

1. Kid Friendly and Price Range? |
|
What age kids are you talking about, early teens, pre-teens or children under 10 years old?
What price range for a dinner? $15, $20-30, $30-40, $40+ ...
I know a lot of places and would be happy to give you a recommendation.

and I would say somewhere from the inexpensive price range to moderately priced...so I'd say somewhere in the 15-30 dollar range. Any help would be excellent

3. There's a brewpub right town the block from the Town Hall concert venue... |
|
I forget the name, but it's GREAT. I've been there twice now. Very rare I repeat a restaurant in NYC.

4. In Mid-Town by Times Square |

There are lots of chains, like Olive Garden on the north side of Times Square and Applebees on 242 W 42nd and another on 50th and Broadway and TGIFridays on 50th and 7th Ave.
There is a great BBQ place called Virgils on 44th street in between 6th and 7th.
The Heartland Brewery & Chop House that another poster mentioned on 43rd between 6th and 7th is great for kids, but pricier than you want. Great burgers, but its a $18 burger and fries. If you want something nicer than a burger it gets higer.
John's Brick Oven at 260 W 44th is the best pizza north of the village.
Mars 2112 is a space themed place, its also in the building I work in. Its at Paramount Plaza, 1633 Broadway. Great food and good for kids.

6. The TGIF there is terrible. |
|
Long wait, dirty, loud, hot and you'll end up paying $20 just for some crappy chicken fingers.
Personally, I think the Chevy's by Port Authority is really good. The food is higher quality and it'd be cheaper. It's also suitable for kids.

8. I have never had a problem with that Fridays |
|
I eat there a few times a year. I work across the street. Never had to wait. I don;t think it is dirty at all. $20 is high for chicken fingers. I never ordered them so I can;t comment on whether that is accurate.

9. I ended up there around the holidays. |
|
It sucked. Even the three kids (9 & 12) weren't fans of it. Maybe it was the holiday season, but I wouldn't go there again. Your suggestion of John's pizzeria is good though.
