Anyone else watch "HUFF"?
Hank Azaria plays a tortured psychiatrist in a troubled marriage, with a schizophrenic brother and a ditzy, alcoholic mother (Blythe Danner). Its on Show Time so they dont pull many punches.

Oliver Platt should win an Emmy for his portrayal of HUFF's self-loathing, self-indulgent and ethically challenged lawyer and best friend.

Its a very funny show IMO.

2. It was funny watching Platt sweat when his dope got forwarded...
to his boss's inter-office mailbox. Oh man, he was shitting bricks.
The Sharon Stone "shaving" episode was funny too.

I especially love Oliver Platt's character, he is just amazing in this role (I like him in most of his roles though).

6. Oh boy, how about last night's episode?
Platt was in top form, oh man how painful to watch.

And I was totally with Beth, was cheering her on when she confronted Huff about their son breaking into houses!!

And sheeesh, grandpa wasn't out of line at all, what was that about??? Huff clearly doesn't have any idea what abuse is.

7. Platt nailed the drug crazed role.
I've been there myself, sadly. And grandpa wasn't out of line at all. Its ok to be a pal to your kid but you still have to be a parent. HUFF is opting for the good-guy role in regard to his kid's bizarre and inappropriate behavior. As a parent of 3 sons I know that at times I need to be firm and go the "tough love" route. Its like he was just blowing it off as an outlet for his creativity or something. Shit the kid was breaking and entering. You can shoot a prowler who enters your home illegally in CA.

Platt is golden in that role. It was made for him. It was somewhat painful to watch for I've been in that state before and know the mood swings, anger, self-loathing, bizarre behavior....
Platt should at least be nominated for an Emmy for his role as Russel.

Do you think that Teddy is "gonna get some" from that little sweetie?

8. Teddy's gonna blow it somehow. Writing is on the wall.
Started with him saying he had recently bought a house on the beach. He's going to spiral into a web of lies and it's going to mess up the relationship and he's going to crack over it. And just when it looked like things were working out for him.

Platt should definitely win an Emmy, I agree. I just love him. Commandeering the cab and riding over the sidewalk... LOL! And then, showing up at the office without having at least gone home to shower and change!! Sheesh, he was already too late, it would have been worth another half hour to clean up his shit. Poor Maggie.

Also, I didn't think Beth was right for telling Izzy that she could tell Ben to leave. Ben is Byrd's grandpa, and Huff's dad. It isn't only about Izzy.

I had a hard time swallowing that Huff would be so casual about the breaking-and-entering thing, AND that Byrd himself was more concerned about how they thought of him wrt the cat than the issue of breaking into homes. Remember how ballistic they went over the lipstick thing? The writers better be careful and stay in character.

I'm also having a hard time with him flirting with this other psychiatrist -- it's obvious where that is going.

9. The running to the other psychaiatrist when he fights with his wife...
is only going to cause more problems in an allready troubled relationship. This will pop up in later episodes.
I'm wondering if Russell will put the dope & booze away and go religous, with the guidance of Paula.
I can see a failed attempt at salvation coming on.

10. I hope not!
He might go marry his pregnant friend, though.

I didn't get what Beth meant when she went in the church and said that her family had been there...? I thought she was having a psychotic break or something. Or maybe she was married there?

That prayer meeting was funny. It was predictable that Izzy'd be stopped for DWUIIIOU when, after coming downstairs with her inebriated (self) and friends, announced that she'd be taking one of them home -- I was surprised Beth didn't stop her.
