"Gone to Greece. Back in two weeks." |

That's a line from a great sleeper film named "Shirley Valentine."
A female friend of mine took her own poll of whether or not Shirley returned to England or stayed in Greece. Most women answered, she stayed in Greece, and most men answered, she went back to England.
I have no idea why most men would think she'd ever go back. There was never any doubt in my mind that she stayed in Greece. What do you think?
(If you've never seen the movie, try to get a copy. It's great.)

That one and "Saving Grace", a british film that I thought was hysterical.
I think she stayed, but even if she didn't, she was not going to return to her same life in England. She started over somewhere, I'm sure of it.

2. That movie is one of the things that drew me & Mrs. V. together. |

Across 2,600 miles. She read my profile on another forum and saw "Shirley Valentine" under favorite movie. It's her favorite movie, too.
Of COURSE Shirley stayed in Greece. Absolutely no doubt in my mind at all.
"Ahh... You think I want make fuck with you. Of course, you are beautiful woman, any man want make fuck with you. But boat is boat. Fuck is fuck. Not same thing."
I know that's not exact but that is a HILARIOUS scene.
You rock, Cyrano.

3. "Boat is boat. Fuck is fuck." |

OK, so I saw this phrase etched into wood hanging from a 42-foot Grand Banks trawler last summer, I had no idea the reference but I liked it.
Go figger. :D

4. I'd almost forgotten about "Shirley Valentine!" |
|
Of course she stayed in Greece! If for no other reason than Greece has way better weather than England!
