Anyone know a source of organic corn bran? |
|
I'm looking to increase the amount of fiber in my diet and that's about the highest amount for any grain that I've come across so far, 3.5 grams per tablespoon. More than a serving or raw oats.
I can get/ am currently using wheat bran which isn't far behind at 3.0. At this point, I wonder if cb is worth looking for any more?

1. Possibly Shiloh Farms. |
|
They also make a rice bran. Almost all of their stuff is organic. Go to the local health food store and see if they can get it in from the Garden Spot distributor. There's probably another company out there, too, but Shiloh Farms has a huge bran/grain/everything selection. Arrowhead Mills might make it but I don't think so. Arrowhead also has twice as much in a case, as Shiloh Farms, so the store might be more reluctant to order it.
Don't go by the Shiloh Farms website online. They barely have half their products listed in their website.

2. Good suggestions but I'm back at square one. |

My local store can't get it and I was going to go straight to SF's site until you advised against it. Thanks, anyway. :)

4. It might be on their site or you could at least ask them about it. |
|
I just know that they don't have all their products on their website. It's worth a shot.

3. I'll ask at the food coop here |
|
Even if they don't sell it, they should be able to look up what supplier sells it, which would get you most of the way to what you need.

I considered organic corn flour, too. I'm looking to increase my dietary fiber, ideally, throughout the day and it's more palatable and varies my diet more if I use something that only adds to the dishes I prepare. Bran is ideal, flour and corn less so. Corn has three grams per half cup serving. Bran has the same per tablespoon.
A good idea, though.
