With that "V" word all over the place, I had no idea "chicken" was a vegetable... :eyes:

Also, the package omits one important, not-so-tasty adjective: Expensive.

Also, be sure to cook it thoroughly. As with everything else in life, sweet Linda isn't responsible! Especially if you give yourself indigestion or bacteria...

1. Man, she's really let quality slip since she died!
Still, it's no excuse.

3. She died?!
Dang. Some people talk of throwing money down the toilet. With Linda, people are burying their dough 6 feet under...

5. Well, there is a plus side to all this...
they're not using real pieces of Linda McCartney as ingredients... :puke:

The taste varies from person to person...

8. You better be careful, man. I once had a thread deleted for making...
a joke about Mama Cass' ham sandwich recipe being "to die for"

Joking about 60's -70's era celebs' deaths and food is evidently thin ice with some people

11. And people think I take things too seriously.
Edited on Thu May-04-06 07:06 PM by HypnoToad
Besides, when I die, there will undoubtedly be plenty who'll poke fun at my demise. I'm already over it. After all, I've lived with it almost 34 years already.

In seriousness, I tend to push the envelope at times; but I typically don't cross the line. Not deliberately, certainly.

Of course, I didn't know she had died until someone else pointed it out. It's her estate who's being tasteless then. It's 2006, she died 8 years ago.

16. Cass didn't die from choking; that myth just won't go away, will it.
she had a heart attack.

19. I saw your joke... and I knew it was not from eating a sandwich...
at least Mama Cass was real.

And got scorned just because she wasn't ideal in corporeal appearance.

20. I wonder if I thought choking to death was "fun" to think about
when I was your age.

I doubt it; I was in paramedic school.

Oh well...whatever floats your boat. Be careful of what you laugh at when you are young, btw. Sometimes it bites you in the ass.

24. It's not about choking being fun, it's about the myth being fun
It's fun to keep some of them alive. Like they myth that Mikey from the Life cereal commercials ate a bunch of pop-rocks, drank coke and had his stomach explode. Or the myth that Bob Denver's radio fell into his tub.

12. Oh, tofu chicken?
The graphic artist ought to be sacked then...

That's the trouble when they try to make things wordless and dumb down people to compensate...

LOL, I had a manager tell me not to give her too many details, only the base facts and she'll ask me for more info as needed. One day she complained about not knowing enough... (pity she never bothered to ask for more details... but she didn't want to know.)

13. Dunno what it's made of
Probably wheat gluten or something.

(Your "dumbing down" remark reminded me of "The Handmaid's Tale," where the shops must use only pictures to communicate what they sell. I'm not sure exactly how one might communicate "wheat gluten" pictorially!)

14. Quite. Icons can go only so far.
The picture of the printer component with arrows facing no less than 3 directions can be a bit tedious... can't people make anything trilingual anymore?!

Pictures are indeed universal - confusing for all who stare at them... indeed, most people used to think we were far evolved from the Egyptians... I wouldn't advocate that mindset any longer...

15. I don't get it. What do you find so funny about the box, and why
did you not like Linda McCartney?

If you go to the frozen food section of your grocery store, you can find all kinds of vegetarian "meats."

I made vegetarian sausage and bisquits tonight--if I hadn't told you it was veggies...you wouldn't have known it. (I am Southern--bisquits and gravy are serious here.)

Anyway--I don't know about this brand, but try some of the MorningStar stuff---that's our favorite.

18. There's something incredibly disingenuous about the concept.
Empty marketing based on a famous person who is in the same field.

Another example: I don't recall Julie Child often putting her name on every piece of foodstuff... but I've yet to see a packet that doesn't have Emeril's appetite-suppressing face on it.

Yeah, it can be tacky. Remember the Galloping Gourmet? That guy was hilarious; but I only remember seeing him on cookbooks-
