I HATE the phone company, and I'm fucking FURIOUS

My phone bill is always ridiculously high, and I'm used to that. Anyway, money was tight, and I couldn't pay the phone company on time. So, I did what I've done in the past, which is called them and said "I can't make the deadline, but I can pay you at this time".
Phone rep x says: "Sure great, just make sure you phone in and report that payment"
So, the day comes, I pay them, and I phone in and report my payment. Great!

Except I come home this evening to find my phone disconnected. and, of course, the phone company works the same hours as I do, so I can't get anyone past six. Great.

But I already know what they're going to say. That I have to pay any outstanding amount, plus a $25 reconnection fee. Funny part is, I'm switching companies next week.

Yeah. I'm fucking furious. Those assholes. I did EVERYTHING they ask you do if you're going to be late, I called, I reported, I paid on the day arranged, and they fucking cut me off. RARGH.

sounds like something Qwest would do (even though I know you don't have them). Their service is so crappy, they were ordered by the government to set up a "fuck-up fund" to compensate customers for their crappy service.

and it sucks. Things get tight but you do the responsible thing and inform them of it and make arrangements. You do everything they tell you to..... and they still fuck you over! And you end up being charged even more!

I don't know of an alternative in your area. Or even if there is one..... in a lot of places there is only one phone company (except for cell or computer thangs).
