A gorgeous peacock was walking around outside my office yesterday.

This isn't him. I was going to try to take a picture today, but didn't see him.

He was HUGE! The bugger must have been 7 feet long with all the feathers, and the body was about the size of a medium/large turkey. He came right up to me and I was feeding him soy nuts and wheat thins.

For some reason, their call sounds almost just like a woman screaming "Help".

I heard "Help" about 4 times, looked outside the office and saw him.

The blue feathers on his head and chest were amazing. Cobalt, indigo, whatever you want to call it, it was BEAUTIFUL.

I wanted to give him a big hug, but I figured he would peck my head.

2. LOL, when I was watching him, I was thinking
he might be a little too gamey. He was about turkey size, though.

5. They're related to pheasants
So I doubt they'd be gamy... probably just a bit dry.

8. I don't think I could eat peacock.
I suppose humans are hypocritical in some of their food choices. Turkeys and chickens are pretty ugly birds. I don't see a lot of cardinal, blue jay, parrot and peacock on the menu.

12. If the turkey head didn't have all the red stuff, it would be a pretty
bird.

This peacock seemed nearsighted or something. He was standing by the glass doors looking at his reflection. When I threw food down, he seemed to go by the sound of where it landed rather than the fact that there was food sitting right in front of him....LOL.

3. I've always been tempted to add a couple pea fowl to my chicken flock
They're pretty expensive though.

9. I imagine they would be pricey.
I didn't know they lived in Florida. I thought they were in cooler climates.

4. They are gorgeous and they sleep in trees
my ex used to train horses for a man who has peacocks and other exotic birds. They were all over the farm. It was really neat to see.

10. I bet it was neat.
Watching him walk around, I suppose it would be difficult having six feet behind your arse to worry about manuvering. It would be like driving a semi truck.

6. They are quite noisy
One of my neighbors has peacocks and I can hear them calling in the evening - it's very strange and other-worldly, hearing it in the dusky woods from afar.

They are beautiful birds - when I was a kid, there was a flock that used to wander around our playground and even then I was awestricken by them. Amazing colors that shimmer.

7. It gets me that they sound like they are screaming for help.
I thought a lady fell or something, looked outside and saw him.

The blue color on their head and body is especially entrancing. My car paint is sort of like that, one angle looks purplish, the other, dark blue.

The head feathers are interesting as well!
