Good Friday Morning, Crew!

:donut::hi:
Welcome to the Friday edition of the Early Morning Crew thread! :bounce: We have one more work shift and then...the weekend! :woohoo: I know you're ready for it too. So am I. I get one of the weekend days off this time at least! Next weekend, I get both days off, so I'm REALLY looking forward to that! :headbang:

The house hunting has begun...kind of! Greekspeak found one yesterday and we went by and looked in the windows. The house is cute as it can be, but it's smaller in square footage than the apartment we're in now. He just fell in love with it! I think it's too small, but we're going to go with our realtor so we can go inside just to be sure. This is the fun part. Looking! I can't wait to start going inside the houses and looking for the best one! :woohoo:

So what are you going to do this weekend? Any big plans?

Let's get this day going, my crew! It's time to rise and shine out there! :bounce:

4. Good Morning, Miss Airmens!
:hi::hug::loveya:
Wow! Your FIRST today! :bounce: I'm SO happy! :woohoo: It's good to see you so early. Yes, it was fast...Greekspeak is very excited...but I don't think the house is going to work. I told him there are LOTS of houses out there to see and we shouldn't just jump right in on the first one we see.

How are ya this morning? I hope you're not up because you're stressed out right now.

6. Yeah, I'm up early.
I have a million things to do. Right now I'm getting some faxes ready. We scheduled the movers for June 1 and 2 ... so we'll be outta here by the 3rd. Phew!

You are certainly the voice of reason! It's easy to get dazzled when you see a house you like. But at least you know they're out there! :woohoo:

I am a little stressed out. Thanks for the  But mostly I don't know how I'm going to get everything done. As SOON as I hear from the realtor, I have to call all the utility companies and find out how to get them disconnected at the right time. Aaarrrggghhh!

with everything you have to get done. So everything's cool with the buyers financing then? I know not to just jump on the very first thing we see...there's so much out there. I just have to keep that in mind...

23. Verbally, yes.
We heard it from our realtor and his realtor. ( He's his own realtor.) We should hear FOR SURE today. And he said that the contingencies are all on him and taken care of. This guy is SO excited! He's really funny. :D

I think I'll be OK if I can just get some of this paperwork done. It's hard with my laptop broken ... like working in someone else's office. And the 98 machine doesn't have all the toys I have on my laptop. But I'll manage. Harleydad is going to take a look at the laptop this weekend. We think it's an overheating problem, but we're not sure what's causing it. I've read a few things on the internet about it.

With the market the way it is now, you'll have a LOT of looking to do before you decide. Our buyer told us he looked at hundreds of houses -- more than he would ever show a client. You'll know when it's the right one.

31. Sounds good to me!
If all the contingencies are taken care of, you should be OK! Hopefully, Mister Harley can do something about the overheating problem. I would be scared to death to try to do anything to a laptop, myself...but he may know more about them than I do.

He looked at HUNDREDS of houses? Holey moley, I don't want to look at THAT many!

36. He takes computers apart all the time.
As a matter of fact, I can't think of anything he HASN'T taken apart! He's a regular Mr. Fixit. When the buyer told us he had trouble finding a handyman for the house he's selling, I almost said he should fly harleydad up to do it.

Don't worry, your realtor will screen them for you. We only looked at about a dozen before we found this one ... well, one like it b/c it hadn't been built yet.

46. Sometimes it's pretty scary.
I'll go out to the garage and find him sitting in the middle of a PILE of parts ... and I have no idea how he figures out how everything goes back together. But he taught me how to take the cars apart and put them back together. It's actually sort of fun. :bounce: I wouldn't do it without him, though ... at least not AGAIN. One time when I changed my oil, I had trouble getting the filter off and had to do the old screwdriver-through-the-middle trick. Got a facial and hair treatment at the same time. Can you just imagine such a delicate flower as moi covered in dirty motor oil?

It's pretty easy to eliminate part of the list just from the listings. Or drive-by. Nothing ever looks the way it does in a picture. Remember us looking for land in TN? Most of it was the side of a mountain! But the right place jumps out. :bounce:

I'm glad you know how, though! :bounce: My little brother was the same way when he was a kid...once I found him sitting in our room with an etch-a-sketch all taken apart and him covered in the stuff that's inside! We lost some good toys because of him! He could take them apart...but NOT put them back together! I can tell a lot about the place from these listings...this is a good place to start...

 But I have a bit of tom-boy in me. Our girls both work on their own cars. As a matter of fact, our airmen (now NCOs, but I can't change my username) both started out as jet mechanics.

Hey, what is inside an etch-a-sketch? I didn't know harleydad when he was at the likely age to take his apart. It is sort of important to be able to get things back together, though. :D

Yeah, like if it says, "fixer-upper" ... beware! Have you ever watched that show, Flip This House? OMG, you should see the places they buy and turn them into nice homes and then sell them in a day or so! :bounce:

but it's silver and it sticks to glass like you wouldn't believe! There are two bars with what look like pencil tips attached to them that moves up and down the inside of the glass to make the lines. A bigger MESS I've NEVER seen! I don't mind something needing a coat of paint...we can do that...I don't want something that needs construction. I don't have the tools.

97. You don't have the tools?
Harleydad would see that as a PERFECT opportunity to go to Lowe's and buy new tools ... for ME, of course. When we remodeled out kitchen, I found out that doing it ourselves would cost a fraction of what the pros charged. We saved more than enough to buy all the cool tools he wanted -- compound mitre saw, power nailer, table saw, stronger drill, fancy drill bits ... And he did a great job!

I bet that stuff is pretty nasty. It does stick to the etch-a-sketch glass, after all.

I've always lived in an apartment and haven't had a need for them. I would LOVE to go get some, but I'm hoping not to have to spend that money right now. Yes, don't open an etch-a-sketch if you can possibly avoid it! Unless you just LIKE a disaster mess!

Should be done by noon or so, then going to play dominoes and eat goat cheese and portabella mushrooms and have biscotti and coffee tonight with my brother and his significant other and my mother tonight. Will probably play the Springsteen "Seeger" album for them, and the Steely Dan box set.

Was it houses? Estates? Or entire states once you've subjugated them in your evil 'republican' plan?

The job won't be ready for him until September and it's not a sure thing. So he's going to continue in his current job and rent a room from a friend. I don't now when or how often I'll see him. He has applied for other jobs but hasn't heard anything. :( That's the only wrinkle in the plan at this point. His new manager is considering arranging for him to telecommute from TN ... but just CONSIDERING. Still, that's better than the definite NO he got from his old manager in January.

May I ask how old she is?

I would love to leave already but I have 2 more hours.

176. She's 80.
And in very poor health.

Two more hours doesn't sound too bad when you can be posting at DU. I'm going to start making my phone calls in a few minutes. There are SO many!

180. Nah it isn't too bad
esp since this was a short week anyway. Only 4 days of work.

My one grandma is 80 and she is still very fit. The other one is 85 and of poor health. But she resists going to a nursing home even though she can't see anymore really.

182. Your 85-year-old grandma sounds like my mom.
She refuses to go to a nursing home. She can see OK, but won't wear glasses. And she really needs someone to come in and give her a bath every day, but she doesn't want to do that. Her mind is questionable, too. It makes it very hard. And she knows all the things that are going wrong, so it upsets her. *sigh* It tests my patience, but I know I won't have her for much longer and I'll miss her. :(

I have to make a few phone calls. I'll be back when I can. (It's a myth that you can surf the net with DSL while you're on the phone ... our connection goes out every time I make a call! x( )

153. You'll be back to your old wonderful self in no time!

I'm keeping busy. I have 20 days to find everything. www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=5112613&mesg_id=5112613 On the plus side of this little problem I'm finding lots of little things that have been tucked_away_for_safe_keeping. Cherie wanted to borrow my jeweler's tools and I found them in the drawer of my roll-top computer desk. I don't know why I stashed them there. I found a new bowl and perch that was delivered for Miss Frodo a month ago.

And when I slow down long enough to think I get butterflies.

After PMing with Rex yesterday afternoon I've finally decided to buy a digital camera.
A new Canon Rebel will be in my hands very soon.

62. Hey Cap'n Clint!
Good morning!

House hunting can be both frustrating and kinda fun. Sounds like you and and the hubby are focusing on the fun part :)

As for me.... today will be a nearly endless round of ickiness. I'll start my day by going to the dentist..... and then it only goes downhill from there. But today is a good day and I am in a good mood!

Song of the day? Waltz by Fiona Apple. Here's the lyrics:

If you don't have a song to sing
you're okay
You know how to get along
Humming
Hmmm

If you don't have a date
Celebrate
Go out and sit on the lawn
And do nothing
'Cause it's just what you must do
Nobody does it anymore

No I don't believe in the wasting of time,
But I don't believe that I'm wasting mine

If you don't have a point to make
Don't sweat it
You make a sharp one being so kind
And I sure appreciate it
Everyone else's goal's to get big headed
Why should I follow that beat being that I'm
Better than fine

Khash.

But that's a lot harder than you might think! I'm not really very cruel.... I'd be a very kind and gentle lord and and master! But try convincing anyone of that.

Just dropped in to say hi. My project yesterday was a great success. I'm just ecstatic! Today is part two, and hopefully it'll run as smoothly as yesterday.

Wishing you good luck on the house hunting. I think that would be a daunting task, but it seems this is the right time for the two of you.

Also wishing you a great day and a great weekend. Oh and btw, good choice of song.

Alrightee . . . just going to pop in and say howdy to MissH and then I'm outta here!
