City Hall stews over steamy 'arrest' photo
May 5, 2006

ST. PETERSBURG - The striking photograph in CitiLife magazine shows a white cop handcuffing a black woman in a skimpy gold swimsuit as she steps into the back of his St. Petersburg police cruiser.

So how, in a city with a history of racial tensions, did CitiLife get a real St. Petersburg police officer and car for such a provocative photo?

Police Chief Chuck Harmon.

He approved the magazine's request without realizing what the photo would end up looking like, a police spokesman said Thursday.

Harmon relied on a verbal agreement and did not get written assurances from the magazine, spokesman William Proffitt said. Proffitt called the photograph published in CitiLife's spring issue "inappropriate" and said it was completely different from the proposal Harmon authorized.

I guess it all depends on what your definition of modesty is?

1. She looks like she stepped right out of 1976...
Is it me, or does she remind you of "Foxy Brown?"

Sounds like the police chief approved of letting the mag use the real cop & car for a photoshoot, not realizing the shoot would look like *this* ;)

4. Looks like a fashion article...an NJ magazine did the same thing...
in a fashion spread I just saw--though they left out the cops. They were posed at a penetentiary.

7. Rush couldn't even fit
his big toe into that golden swimsuit. Nor would I even want to see him attempt it.

15. One thing I noticed, is that if you WAIT TWENTY YEARS, the crap
COMES BACK. We are overdue for disco...

Remember SHA NA NA in the Seventies? Doing FIFTIES music???
Happy Days? Laverne and Shirley?

The late sixties had a resurgence of 1940s BIG BAND music...

It always comes back. And FASHION ALERT--if you wore it--the pants, the jackets, the sparkly outfits--the first time it came around, you are too damn old for it on the second pass. Spare yourself some embarassment! Don't be the solitary, pathetic old dude/dudette in the disco bar! If you MUST disco, do it in packs!!!

11. Dang. That gave Hugh Heffner a new camera angle to work with!
Damn the law!

BTW: Looking like a disco queen didn't help either. Is the police car a TARDIS?
