For weeks rumors flew that Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn were seriously considering buying the Lake Forest house once owned by ''The A-Team'' star Mr. T. Though the 7.5-acre estate known as Two Gables has gone under contract, real estate sources won't confirm the name of the potential buyer.
The couple had toured the property and showed sincere interest. But now it seems that ''Vaughnifer'' may be more inclined to reconsider a downtown penthouse -- perhaps one at the posh Palmolive Building at Michigan and Walton, where they've also looked.
As for Two Gables, it was listed for $12.5 million by the Lake Forest office of Koenig & Strey and had been on the market for more than two years. In the 1980s, Two Gables gained infamy when then-owner Mr. T chopped down all the mature trees on the property -- leading the Lake Forest City Council to pass an ordinance prohibiting such actions in the future.
Originally designed by Harrie Lindeberg, the house was updated in 1928 by famous architect David Adler. The landscaping of Two Gables was created by another famous area designer, Jens Jensen.
