Portland DUers: Are you worried about the Hanford site? |
|
I learned about this on 60 Minutes last Sunday. Is this way overblown, or could this be the disaster of the century? I found www.hanfordwatch.org on the net, but I don't know if it's alarmist or realistic.
The governor of Washington isn't too happy about it, so I tend towards the "could be huge disaster" viewpoint.
I'm asking b/c Portland is one place we might move to in a couple of years. How would this affect Portland, if quantities of waste got into the Columbia River? And how likely is something like that?

2. Hanford has been disastering for... |
|
...along time, now. Just ask any of us who grew up there. If the poisons from Hanford that are now in the ground water reach the Columbia River....well, rest assured... The United States government will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about it.
hint:...do you remember Bush saying "Get used to it", about global warming?
