1. 20D?
I have one of those and LOVE it. So many different things you can do easily.

IMHO, Canon puts out the best DSLR's on the market.

4. I loved my old Canon ESO (film type).

I was putting off buying a digital but I gave in. I also ordered a 75-300 Zoom Lens for it.

6. Tamron 18-200mm. F/3.5-6.3 is a great all purpose lens.
You get zoom, wide-angle and some macro capabilities. Its the only lens you need for general pic taking. Under $400.00 too. http://www.dpreview.com/news/0502/05022105tamron_18-200mm.asI rarely take this great lens off my 20D.

7. Thanks!
I hope it's as simple to use as my other Canon.
I know I'll shoot the same images with both just for comparison giggles.

5. It's being shipped so I probably wont have it in time to take it with me.

I'm flying down to Florida for 12 days. :) My new laptop should be here in time to fly with me.

I promise I won't start dropping cameras now.

Wrap it in some clothes, and you'll be fine.

15. Thanks Redstone.

I was already planning to pack the old one into my luggage but you scared me about the digital. I thought I was about to become attached at the neck.

26. um I wouldn't check a camera through with my luggage if I were you. If it
gets stolen, you better keep all your receipts and make sure your policy for replacement is airtight.

I travel a LOT and never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever check cameras, jewelry or computers or documents in the cargo luggage. I carry them with me at all times.

28. I cannot carry a lot of weight.

I haven't flown since I hurt my neck. I'm always looking for ways to avoid straining my body parts while carrying things. I could take the new digital in my pocketbook. I'll have my laptop with me too.
I don't pack things which aren't replaceable like jewelry. My pieces are all custom one of a kind, crystals, tourmalines, agates.

:hi: If you have any suggestions to make my flight easier I would love to hear them.

32. A small roll along APPROVED SIZED carry on. Find the smallest one you
can, that could help out the neck problem. I hate carrying stuff too...

The nice thing about the cabin approved sized carry on is that you can fasten your purse on top of it as you're schlepping through the airports. So you're only moving one piece after you've checked your cargo luggage. The Longchamp luggage line is great for pieces that interlock and fasten together.

Wheels are our friends!

I have had several accidents including a serious neck injury, I know precisely of what you speak! Good LUCK... I'm just worried your luggage would be destroyed and your new camera hijacked. That would be a real shame.

33. I agree, take the camera with you--I've had two thefts since they
started X-raying luggage. There are a lot more people with a lot more time to steal your stuff now that the X-Ray procedures are in place. If you absolutely must keep it in your luggage, check for it as soon as you get to the destination airport and report any problems immediately.

11. I hope it doesn't drive me nuts learning how to use it.

All this stuff about SanDisk 2 GB Ultra II sounds like a foreign language to me.

And I really was going to upgrade my laptop until I lugged it from one end of the mall to the other. My new one only weighs 1/3 as much as my old one.

There is a LOT to learn, IF YOU WANT, but if you don't, you can put it in 'P' mode which does everything for you.

Hopefully I'll be doing as well with it as I do with my other ESO by the time you arrive. I know I'll pick up some pointers on it while I'm traveling this summer.
x( I don't think I'll have it in time for my next trip.

22. I think was going to pickup the 75-300 for the old camera.

But that was right after I hurt my neck and I didn't think I could comfortably hold the extra weight. I've been shooting everything with a 35-70 lens. I did order the 75-300 mm lens for the digital after checking out the weight before my purchase. There were two different 75-300 available and my blondness popped right up to the top so it was nice to have a real live person to walk me through the sale. (although I just found out that I could have saved money buying it on line :( if I knew what to look for)

23. Don't worry
as you see the extra money was well spent for the help. Better you spent that money than buying something on-line that would have been a total failure.

I have a 28-90 lens and now the 70-300 lens. Depending on what I want to take pics of I switsch quite often

30. If that's a 20D, it's what I have also.
It's a great camera. My personal favorite lens is the 17-85 mm, which works great for the landscapes I tend to focus on. I'm also getting kind of a kick out of the Sigma 10-20 mm for ultra wide angles.

Presently I also have the 70-300 lens, a 100 mm macro, and 50 mm f/1.8. These pretty well cover what I do, although, of course, there's always more on the wish list.

We'll be looking for you in the photo group, Joan.

31. I love my 20D!
I have the Canon 70-300 lens as well as a Canon 180mm Macro ($$$$).
My favorite lens is the Tamron 18-200. The ultimate all purpose lens.
The camera was a bit expensive but the lenses will kill your bank account.

So much you can do with the 20D. I've had mine a few months now and done all the cool features yet.

I've barely made it off the P setting yet, but I am so pleased with the results I've gotten. That 18-200 lens sounds like it might be worth looking into. Thanks for the tip.

38. Yes, it's the camera model.
If your camera is a Canon, it's either a Rebel model, a 10D, 20D, 30D (the latest version), or some other number. It will be on the front of the camera. It'll say something like EOS 20D.

40. It WAS a 10D. After looking at the order very closely ~ I canceled it.

I am currently looking at a 20D on-line.

I hope that I'll reorder by tomorrow but there is so much to think about now that I don't have a salesman helping me. I have been getting quite a bit of information from a DUer this afternoon so I'm sure I'll like my next choice better. :)

excels my 10d (a sort of semi-professional canon model that preceeds the 20d) in most respects/specifications, and I've been working professionally with the 10d for three years now.
