Wikipedia, on Liam Gallagher's childhood:

When he was around 8 years old, he went through a stage in which he claimed that he hated music and would often insult people walking down the street with guitars in their hands. Noel has made much of the fact that at the point he was becoming quite proficient with guitars.

The Beatles never destroyed rock and roll, and certainly not as young as eight years old. As a matter of fact, they performed cover versions of rock and roll songs by other artists.

Liam Gallagher destroyed rock and roll. Liam Gallagher performs rock and roll.

Score one for Oasis.

1. How did they destroy it?
Liam & Noel are minor talents at best. 'Wonderwall' aside, America barely noticed them.

The Sex Pistols set out to destroy Rock n Roll but failed. Failed miserably. John Lydon gave it a go with PIL's 'Flowers of Romance' album, but wound up selling out, too.

Rock n Roll is in a coma on life support, but no one has the heart to pull the plug.

4. It says in the article.
He claimed that he hated music and would berate people with guitars, all the while he was becoming proficient at the guitar.

2. If Oasis is so great, then why do they seemingly dedicate themselves
to sounding exactly like the Beatles, forty years later?

11. Yes, and that would even relate to the guitar-berating.
Liam didn't know if anyone he was berating was armed. That's moxie.

6. Sounds like Mr Gallagher has a bad case of assholeism. Not to mention
a very inflated sense of self-importance.

10. I'd have to agree with that. It is indeed fashionable.
After all, you don't get any headlines by NOT being an asshole.
