18. Isn't this a more appropriate topic for the LOUNGE?
Not trying to rock the boat. It's just that light, non-political topics customarily belong in the lounge so one doesn't have to weed through the fluff.

40. Thanks!
I am thinking it will be good. Amelie is such a charming film, The same actress, Audrey Tautou was in "A Very Long Engagement", also by the same director. Good film.

She will be in "DaVinci Code" coming up, too.

It's got lessons about COURAGE.

It's got lessons about HONOR.

It's got lessons about FAMILY.

It features CAREER-DEFINING performances from Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer.

My second choice would be "High Noon," because the lessons are basically the same..."Tombstone" just expresses them in modern terms.

35. Great movie that I own and we watch all the time, but one part
always bothers me. The part where Wyatt's brother is killed and Wyatt's hands are drenched in blood, and he rubs his hands all over his body and white shirt, but there is not one mark on his shirt after the entire scene. I always wonder when that part comes on, how they could have missed such an obvious blooper.

My favorite scene I believe is Arthur speaking to Guinevere (she is basically a nun in this scene).

"I have often thought that in the hereafter of our lives, when I owe no more to the future and can be just a man, that we may meet, and you will come to me and claim me as yours, and know that I am your husband. It is a dream I have..."
something so deep and beautiful about that has always touched me.

48. Casablanca...the quintessential love story cum war story/intrigue.
Edited on Fri May-05-06 09:22 PM by rasputin1952
It has all of the elements, even though it is dated.

Bogart is fantastic, Ingrid Bergman steals the show...she would never have had to speak a line, her facial expressions spoke volumes.

An outstanding supporting cast rounded out the flick; Dooley Wilson, Sam, the ever faithful friend who had been w/Bogart/Rick for years; Claude Raine/Capt. Renault; Sacha, Carl, Berger...and the ever greedy Sydney Greenstreet/Signor Ferari.

Many of the parts of the script were written/presented only an hour before the shoot...There were two endings as well, as no one could make up their minds on how Ilsa & Rick should end up...they chose the one we see rather than Bogart flying off w/Bergman....(an excellent choice IMO).

Many facets of Casablanca move me; Rick helping the young couple...The singing of Le Marseilles to quell out the Nazi's; and of course..."Play it Sam; if she could stand it, so can I"

"We'll always have Paris".

:)
