I remember when I was younger I used to think it was funny... did *I* change, or did the comic change?

It *used* to be funny. If I wanted comics that preached, I'd reach chick tracts.

By the nineties, the fundification of BC set in.

Family Circus really brings out the violent side of a lot of people. I'm waiting for the comic strip to end its run in a fantastic murder-suicide scene. We'll probably never be so lucky.

Prickly City sucks, too. It says "...What do you think?" under the cartoon. I've probably sent 30 or 40 e-mails to the Seattle Times but it's still there!

Not anymore . . but I don't file it under hate.
Mallard Fillmore (Which I imagine will pop up quite a bit), Family Circus, and for some reason Marmaduke. I don't know why but I just can't stand it. . .

Now he's just a hostile little troll or something, and the cartoonist has run out of funny things to do with him.

I use to own a few of the first garfield books . . . back when he was bigger and like you said more cat like . . .
I still read them (the old books) time to time . . . but that's about the extent of my garfield reading anymore

you must follow this link http://www.truthandbeautybombs.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=4997&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0Basically, they edit out garfield's thought balloons from the strip, leaving Jon's dialog intact. The result is an "oddly surrealist comic"

It's as though there was an invasion of the body snatchers or something. Whoever is writing it now doesn't seem to be the original person. And Cathy Guisewhite's a total comic ho to have let this happen. It's not funny, and it's not in the least bit real.

I barely tolerate Sherman's Lagoon but I really HATE the other two.
I wish I could get my local paper to dump them and put 9 Chickweed Lane and Boondocks in their place.
BC is so not what it was when it first started, and Wizard of Id is still tolerable

9 is very surreal to me, a lot of inside jokes and many ways to take many of them.
And Boondocks is just the Boondocks... Funny over and over again.
