I'm a grandma!

Mr. Sleepyhead's daughter gave birth to a healthy 8-lb girl last night. And may I add without any form of drugs - she is tough. Mom is doing fine - Dad is a bit discombobulated. Having never bothered to have children myself, I am truly excited about this. I've been stocking up on stuffed animals and politically-minded baby clothes (thanks to the DU store!). I got her the first pair of Converse shoes she will own - a teeny tiny pair of red low-tops, which are so cute I could plotz. We are driving up to see her in 2 weeks and I can't wait. I am of course far too young for grandchildren but will suck it up and fuss over her anyway. Yay!!!

my husband's dad married a much younger woman when our daughter #3 was 6 mos. old. Instant grandchildren. Enjoy!
