Does your cat catch and eat spiders, mine does
He acts like they are tasty too. I have seen him doing it for several years. He can spot a light brown spider much more easily than I can. And, I guess he keeps their numbers down. I guess that is ok for cats to eat spiders? Anyone know?

1. Sure
Mine will eat spiders, snakes, mealworms, those little roly-poly things, moths, grasshoppers, ants...the occasional finger...

The basic rule seems to be, if the cats can catch it, they'll eat it.

Or at least try.

2. I am terrified of spiders.
I actually show them to my cat so he'll eat them for me. If he's not around, I'll show it to one of my lizards. Neither cat nor lizard has ever had an ill effect. I wouldn't feed them a brown recluse or black widow but otherwise I think it's fine.

3. While in the Peace Corps,
my spiders were way too fast for my cat. So I would knock them to the ground with a broom and then my cat would pounce on them and eat them. Occasionally, a leg would fall off and it would twitch on the ground and my cat would pick it up in her mouth and it would dangle out of her mouth for a moment, still twitching. Good good memories. I loved that cat.

4. My neighbor named her cat Renfield because he ate spiders.
I think cats will eat pretty much anything that moves. I watched one of mine devour a centipede with great relish. Crunch, crunch...

6. I had a cat that would catch roaches, the really big ones.
Of course she would then bring them to me.

8. My cat is insane about spiders ...

He seeks them out, it seems, and then tortures them.

The really insane part is that he'll grab one in his mouth while it is *alive* and *hold it there*. How I discovered this habit was that he brings them to me, opens his mouth, and lets them crawl out, apparently to give me the honor of the kill. Little fart gets spider bites on his tongue because of this, but it doesn't deter him in the least.

Just weird.

10. My cats chew them up...
and then spit them out. Guess they want all the nutrients without the added calories.

Frees them up for more enjoyable treats...

14. I nearly lost one of mine years ago to a spider bite
I use every means possible to keep my basement spider free. I fully understand their value, and I have orb weavers outside my kitchen window, but I will not lose one of my babies to a spider bite.

and he constantly attacks/kills/ spiders, wolf spiders prodominately, he doesn't eat them though, I wouldnt 'think it could miss them up, but on the other hand, they say feeding chocolate to dogs, is harmful, so who knows, about your cat...

17. Mine takes them to the shower and dismembers them. Rather sad
watching a three legged spider attempting an escape. Should a lizard find its way into the house its hours are numbered.
