Local buffet tells family they waste too much food

Wendy Dershem had a battle at the buffet last Saturday.

Dershem was told never to come back because her family wastes too much food. She argued that — hey, it’s an all-you-can-eat buffet.
But management at the Dragon House, 10912 Douglas Ave.,Urbandale, said it’s not an all-you-can-waste buffet.

It sets up an interesting question for buffet diners: When have you gone too far, plate piling, tasting and dumping, or is anything fair game for a flat fee?
Dershem said she joined her boyfriend, Jason Trotter, and her children, Madison, 7, and Carter, 5, at the Dragon House Saturday for the $5.95 all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet. It was their favorite spot and the Des Moines woman and her children had dined there frequently since the children were babies. She said her group was one plate into the experience when a restaurant employee approached the group.

If you don't KNOW if you're fucking kid will LIKE something or NOT, don't PILE up the whole goddamn plate full of it UNTIL you do KNOW they like after a SAMPLE!

They should be kicked out the country, too.

5. If it is a habitual thing, I can see their point
One good thing about buffets, especially ones that might have s\dishes that you aren't familiar with, is that you can try different things. Sometimes, you might not like the thing that you try and it will not be eaten. While eating, you might get fuller quicker than planned or suddenly feel ill or uncomfortable eating a particuliar food, really spicy stuff for example. That is expected. I once went to a buffet that said that customers would be charged for any uneaten food and found that rather threatening.
In their case, though, if they regularly eat at this restaurant, they should should know what they like and don't like and feel like most of the time. It is also bad to teach children that this is acceptable behavior. If you were to go to a family member or friend's house, for example, wouldn't most people consider it rude for someone to put a lot of food on their plates and then not eat it, barring illness or similiar problems?
