I was in an improv troupe with Stephen Colbert

A friend wrote me today,

Remember back years ago, when we were in the orbit of Rick Thomas (The Mystical, The Spiritual, The One And Only Rick)? And how he wanted to found the ultimate improv company, the "Life or Death Theater"? And how we'd go to his improv classes/salons, and one night he decided to hand-pick his prospective troupe, and you and I were picked, while other "trained" improv actors were passed over? And how disappointed --crushed, even -- the passed-over ones were? I don't remember them all, but there's one I do remember by name: Stephen Colbert.

Ain't life funny?

I certainly had no recollection. Small world huh?

Me and the family shall be doing the 1500 mile move from the Minneapolis area to SoCal within the next six months!

Tell me it is not awful (I have not done the 1500 mile move thing since I was 4).

I did college and community theater with him, '83-'84, before he transferred to Northwestern.
