Tell a funny story you HEARD

Not one you witnessed.
My friend was talking about a mutual friend today. They were all over at someone's house and the guy decided to make popcorn on the stove. So he gets out the popcorn, puts the oil and kernels in the pan and start shaking it over the element.
TIme goes by and nothing happens and a terrible burning smell overtakes the kitchen. My friend says to him, "What's the story with that popcorn?"
"I don't know man, it's not working," he replied.
So my other buddy walks over and takes the lid off the pot.
He then Breaks out laughing and says, "Those aren't kernels, that's dried split peas!"
