Dear Shop 247,
Wow! what an opportunity. Let us send you a money order for the amount you might pay so there will be no out of pocket expenses. then some time in the future you can send us the money you owe. What a deal!

1. this happened to me

last year when I tried to sell something on line. The emails started with "very interested" "want to buy" kind of thing, and then after like two emails, they said "would like to pay you more than you are asking" "send excess money back to me" All of it was in very broken english.


I googled the email address, and I got responses like "nigerian money scam" and "internet scams". I contact the local board that I was selling it on so that they could give people the heads up on this, because some people can get taken in on this kind of thing.

Surprisingly, many people fall for these scams.

5. A very common scam. Disregard all subsequent attempts.

I also get these when I advertise on www.recycler.com. Some solicitations are written better than others, but they all involve you receiving a fraudulent money order and you sending real money.

Don't reply, just ignore it.
