Yikes. I have jury duty on Tuesday. It's in a suburb called Markham, which is kind of weird.
Is it normal to spring it on someone? It doesn't appear to be in my district, I don't live there. I just found out last week - very strange.

... could it be a set-up? Could the county be rounding-up everyone with outstanding and unpaid speeding violations, parking violations, etc.
I remember several years ago, there was a story about some law enforcement folks who were having trouble locating and bringing-in some folks with outstanding arrest warrants. So... they sent them an official looking announcement about a contest that they had won... along with instructions about where to show up to claim their "prize". After everyone was safely in the room, the doors were locked and a general "you're-under-arrest" announcement was made.
But... you probably have nothing to worry about. I'm just letting my imagination run wild. (You did remember to pay that parking ticket, right?)
