1. Heck, I hated my OWN prom night!
I did it for my mother, who did not get to go to her prom. The dress we spent three digits of cash on; the limo which was driven by a guy who refused to drive us to the beach with the rest of our friends, the awful food, etc, etc. And now from a parent's perspective... Man, I think I just may not let my child go!

2. I just helped my friend's daughter get ready. What a to do!
Her dad asked a hairdresser to come to the house for her hair- and the hairdresser never showed up. Mom and daughter were spitting nails at each other. Yikes.
This girl was totally stressed over how she looked. And honest to God she looks like a Renaissance Madonna. She is breathtaking on her worst day. Tonight she was spectacular, and I don't think she knew it or was having any fun at all. :eyes: We have a school sponsored after prom party in our district. Everybody stays safe that way. :hi:
Try not to stress, she'll be OK.

5. I'm not sure how my sister took my prom.
She didn't go to hers. I went with a friend of mine to my senior prom. He was on the prom committee. The event was held at the hotel where I worked bussing tables in the restaurant. I was able to show my date the rooms that were rented.

Dress wise, I guess I was lucky. I was able to borrow a gown from one of my cousins. The only thing I paid for were the shoes and getting my hair done. My sister was impressed with the shoes I bought. It was the first time I ever went shopping for either clothes or shoes on my own.

Transportation- My friend borrowed his mom's car.

10. I think Prom Night is a fabulous movie.
Jamie Lee Curtis is great, as usual, and Leslie Nielsen does some excellent disco dancing. And that exploding boogie van scene? Dy-no-mite! You'll never guess who the killer is, either.

11. Oh, those many nights
lying awake waiting for the headlights in the drive, not being able to sleep until I knew everyone was safe at home.

Difficult times.

15. Never went to mine. Full of pompous snooty horny kids.
Not that I was liked anyway... except for that of the friendly punching bag and target for framing...

16. Heck, I didn't even go to my prom! I hated high school.
I graduated high school in 1985. There may have been three reunions since and I haven't gone to any of them. Around the time of the 10 year reunion, I ran into one person who was in my high school class. She was actually one of a small group who took on the task of finding those graduates who were hard to find. She said that I was about 4 or 5 people who they were unable to locate. I said that was pretty much the way I wanted it.

17. My daughter is going to the prom next week.
She is a sophomore, but the boy who asked her is a junior. She is very excited. AFter the prom, they will go to a racquet ball club that the parents have rented out for the night and have a post-prom party.

There will be a ton of parents there to keep an eye on them. They are all really, really excited and I don't think there will be anyone renting a hotel room.

JMHO. YMMV.
