Movie on Sci Fi Channel "Rottweiler."
Edited on Sat May-06-06 04:22 PM by RebelOne
I am just so totally pissed watching the movie "Rottweiler" I have also posted at the pets group, but I know I will have a much wider audience here.

This movie on the Science Fiction Channel really has me ticked off. It is depicting the Rottweiler as a man-eating monster of a dog. The Rottweiler already has a bad enough rap because of the media. I am a Rottweiler owner and this is the most noble of dogs when raised in the right environment. My Legend is my second Rottie and she is a sweetheart. My last Rottie, Bear Bear, who died at the age of 12, was also a love. I e-mailed the Sci Fi Channel to express my outrage that they should air this movie putting Rotties in such a bad light. If anyone else agrees with me and has seen the movie, e-mail the Sci Fi Channel at http://www.scifi.com/feedback/.

1. Ugh...I hate stuff like that
I lived with a Rottweiler for awhile. He was a 130lb baby, if only his owners were as cool as him.

I also have issues with the major stupidity about pit bulls. I've seen it take place a lot on this board, generally from people who read an article about a pit bull attack but have never been around the breed. Amazing how they're experts and I'm wrong, even though I'm the one that's actually been around the breed.

2. Pit bulls
are the mainstay of my rescue. I currently have 5 in my rescue now. All were abused. Now, I'd trust any one of them. I might not let some of them around other dogs because of their previous situations, but they're wonderful dogs of a maligned breed. The ongoing ignorance in some places (note: I didn't say around here) is so overwhelming and laughable, especially from the "My cousin knew a guy that had a buddy that got attacked..." crowd. Those "experts" usually expose themselves for the morans that they are on the topic.

4. Hi, Fivegan, I knew you would chime in on this thread.
I have also owned a pit bull. He was a big sweetheart. And it really upsets me when people generalize pit bulls and Rotties as vicious dogs. My Rottie is a big, big baby, but when I took her to the vet today, everyone in the waiting room with small dogs grabbed them up. I had to reassure them that my Rottie was a big baby and loves all other dogs. But when people see a Rottie or a pit bull, they automatically go into vicious dog mode.

5. I've known my share
of Rotties. Definitely a unique dog. Every single one a sweetheart. A Rottie is a thinking dog, you know just by looking in their eyes. It's not all "sit for treat" or "roll over for a belly rub" my friend. No way.

People buy in to the propaganda, that's all. 20 years ago, it was German Shepherds or Dobermans. If it was the UK, it'd be 3 other breeds. People in this instance are sheep. They buy into what they're told, and regurgitate it to their friends.

Sound familiar? Some have built a pResidency upon it.

3. The two rotties that friends had as pets were the friendy oafs.
One had a stinky gas problem. Poor guy!

A couple of times, I have seen them aggressive, but that is because they are neglected yard dogs.
