1. He ran a really good race, didn't he?
My dear wildhorses.....

Perhaps I'll keep track of Barbaro for the next leg of the Triple Crown...

He reminded me a little bit of Secretariat.....the way he ran away from the rest of the field.....

Now THERE was a horse! :kick:

10. Nice!!!
That's quite the payoff! :) My boy, Bro Derek, did ok for a bad trip (5th).

Barbaro has Triple Crown shot written all over him. As Tom Durkin said, he's "sublime."

19. He's the ONLY one
with a shot...;-)

Seriously, it was an incredible performance by him, considering the nice field he wired.

Did you get to the racingpost? They have the 2000 Guineas video up. Brilliant performance there, too.

22. yeah yeah
smarty pants :P

I mean ... I think he has a "realistic" (ie, solid) shot of sweeting the Triple -- didn't feel that about Giacomo last year, though technically he was the "only one" who had a shot then. Barbaro could very well be a superstar. But then again, Bro Derek looked mighty good for going 9-wide on the final turn. We'll see how it plays out in the Preakness.

Pretty amazing that George Washington is bred by Lael Stables, the Barbaro owners. Quite the day for their horse sense (and cents).

20. I'm actually an acquaintance of Mike Matz, the trainer
He was an extremely successful Grand Prix jumper rider. It is very, very strange to think of him as a racehorse trainer now....

But the area of PA where he is working is big time, OLD money, and he has ALL of the right connections.

Go Mike!
