9. 26 characters in Britain and Ireland
Edited on Sat May-06-06 06:00 PM by billyskank
How do I know? I work for the administrators of horse racing in the UK and Ireland, and the "name" column on the "animal" table in our database is 26 characters wide.

The animal name usually includes a country indicator (e.g. "(USA)") though, so I guess that's 20 characters really.

3. The Shocker.
I always said my last Geman Shepherd should have been named Crazy Bitch or Big Disappointment, but the breeder got to name her in the contract, so she was MVP's Tribal Tribute.

I liked her. It's just that we meant to breed and show her, but she became overly protective. Her personality ruined her career, but she did get win some during her brief career (aggressive at 7 months).

17. Mud Or Tucker
That was an actual name of a horse maybe a decade ago. Somehow it slipped past the profanity sensors. You can imagine how it sounded when called by the track announcer during a heated race. They eventually forced a name change.
