Grant McLennan, Go-Betweens lead singer dies in sleep

How did I miss this one? For those of you longtime indy music fans, some of you have heard of the Australian band The Go-Betweens. Grant McLennan who was the lead singer of the band died in his sleep at his home in Brisbane on Saturday. He was only 48. I loved some of the Go-Betweens' music and so it is pretty sad. I remember them back in the 80's.

1. My favorite (and it still gets lots of play) is "Streets of Your Town"

about growing up here in Brisbane. It's currently used in TV ads for the Brisbane Courier-Mail newspaper, which has switched from broadsheet to tabloid.

RIP Grant.

3. KEXP played "Streets of Your Town" today.

The DJ on there made the announcement before they played the song. I must say that was the first time I had heard "Streets of Your Town" in years. Brought back some memories for me! It is very sad Grant died so young too.

The Go-Betweens were awesome! They never got the respect they deserved, though.
