3. cool water, gentle soap and most importantly |
|
NO TOUCHING YOUR PINK BITS until the problem goes away. Really, that can't be emphasized enough. If you have to get a neighbor to hold it or just pee down your leg it's better than the alternative.
Next time try wearing rubber gloves or apply lotion first so your skin won't absorb the capsacin.

4. Water with just a touch of bleach does the trick. |
|
It oxidizes the capsaicin.

5. I had this problem once when I was working on a group dinner back in |
|
college. Our host had just come back from Mexico and was teaching us how to make a certain dish.
It was mid winter and my hands were already chapped. Yowee! Washing my hands just made it worse.
Fortunately, one of the members of the group had been a missionary kid in India, and she told me to rinse my hands in milk. She explained that Indians counteract the heat of the spices in their food with yogurt drinks and raitas.
I poured milk over my hands, and the pain subsided immediately.
Get thee to the refrigerator!

6. Rinse your hands in a bowl of milk |
|
Edited on Mon May-08-06 08:10 PM by Whoa_Nelly
rinse and rinse (hands in bowl actually washing with the milk), and dump the bowl, wash your hands, rinse in cool water, and if necessary, repeat.
on edit: Make sure you scrub under your fingernails while rinsing with the milk and washing with soap. I forgot that part once, and then went to put my contact lens in...Holy Shit! That hurt! There was just enough under my fingernail that somehow got onto my lens. :wow:

How to put this delicately....
Make sure it is all off of your skin before tending to feminine hygeine matters.
I speak from experience, many years ago, when I thought I had gotten all the thai pepper washed off of my hands.
My boyfriend laughed to hard he couldn't stand up for about 15 minutes.
