1. By and large yes...
My wife told me, months ago...that you can always tell what the average intelligence of a nation is, by what they watch on tv...I hate to say it, but I see cases, where that situation, is absolutely, right.

9. News flash - Several European countries have their own form of A.I.
The idea that the rest of the world doesn't generate it's fair share of cultural sewage is laughable.

12. American Idol came from Europe
It was originally called Pop Idol in England; it was so popular, the producers brought it across the pond.

13. Thanks. I remember it starting overseas but couldn't remember
if it had a single starting point or if it started in different countries all around the same time.

2. I'm fond of this Garbage
I知 only happy when it rains
I知 only happy when it痴 complicated
And though I know you can稚 appreciate it
I知 only happy when it rains

You know I love it when the news is bad
And why it feels so good to feel so sad
I知 only happy when it rains

Pour your misery down, pour your misery down on me
Pour your misery down, pour your misery down on me

I知 only happy when it rains
I feel good when things are going wrong
I only listen to the sad, sad songs
I知 only happy when it rains

I only smile in the dark
My only comfort is the night gone black
I didn稚 accidentally tell you that
I知 only happy when it rains

You値l get the message by the time I知 through
When I complain about me and you
I知 only happy when it rains

Pour your misery down, pour your misery down
Pour your misery down on me pour your misery down
Pour your misery down pour your misery down
Pour your misery down on me pour your misery down
Pour your misery down pour your misery down
Pour your misery down on me pour your misery down
Pour your misery down

You can keep me company
As long as you don稚 care

I知 only happy when it rains
You wanna hear about my new obsession?
I知 riding high upon a deep depression
I知 only happy when it rains
Pour some misery down on me

I知 only happy when it rains
Pour some misery down on me
I知 only happy when it rains
Pour some misery down on me
I知 only happy when it rains
Pour some misery down on me
I知 only happy when it rains
Pour some misery down on me ...

6. It will have to be much worse here than it is now
for me to want to live in France. (Sorry, but if you're not French, it's not a very welcoming place.)

8. This is what happens to a culture...
when profitability takes precedence over quality; everything is reduced to the lowest common denominator as a means of appealing to the largest possible potential consumer base. And we've essentially reached a point where almost EVERYTHING in America is about marketing.

10. Yes. Yes we do.
I worked at Toys-R-Us for a long time and watching people buy $100s of the the most asinine crap that will only end up in a landfill somewhere was quite depressing.

11. Having spent much of my life in other countries...
I don't think it is any better in France, Germany, Sweden, New Zealand, Switzerland, or Italy. Same crap on TV, same corporate culture, same extremists on the political scale.

Have you really watched French TV? Some of that crap makes Survivor look like PBS.

Better question is "why does everyone have an unlimited appetite for garbage?".

14. Check what's on Burger King's menu and I would say yes.
A breakfast sandwich with six different kinds of meat, a triple whopper, the Texas double whopper, the cripsy chicken bacon cheese sandwich...

:puke:

15. And given that Mc D's, BK etc. are all over the world
I'd say it stands to reason again that the appreciation of garbage is not limited to the United States.

16. Exactly.
Why must I fly half way around the globe and the first thing I see when I get off the plane is a fucking McDonalds?
